Happy Halloween!

I have one last card to share with you before the Halloween hours run out! 
This is Griselda On Her Broom from Eat Cake Graphics.  Another really fun image!

I die cut a circle out of yellow card stock and sponged it to give it some depth for my moon.  I stamped Griselda on both the moon and white card stock.  I colored her up on the white and cut out and placed on the moon.  After applying the base layer of Copic marker, I went in with a darker shade and began to scribble it in.  I loved the loose look of the ink and thought it really worked well on this fun image…so that’s what I went with!
I rubbed I-Kan-Dee pearlescent chalk all over the moon in a soft yellow to give it some shimmer...although doesn't really show in the photo.  Can you see it?  It’s there, I promise!

I added the sentiment Broom Fits, also colored with Copics and popped up on adhesive foam dots.  The bats were created with a Martha Stewart punch from black paper and Stickles.  The paper is from the Blackbird line by Memory Box.

Witch Way to Fly

I have a fun card to share today using a sweet image from Eat Cake Graphics.   This is Hank on his Hoover.

I stamped Hank on white card stock and colored him with Copic Markers.  I trimmed it out closely and popped it up on designer paper from the Basic Grey Eerie pad.    I stamped the sentiment   (a bit crooked, errrr) and the fun Skully Flowers on a white panel trimmed with purple card stock. 
I picked up quite a few fun new Halloween images from ECG recently…so I hope to find time to show you a few more cards.

Are You A Good Witch or A Bad Witch?

Ooh, I love these little witches from A Day For Daisies!  They are all too cute to ever be bad!  The new release is Little Witches and you are going to love them all!  And best of all, they are all 15% off!
Here is Little Crow Witch…

I just love that sweet little crow…look how long his beak is!  I started by coloring the entire image with Copic markers.  I used my colorless blender to add texture to her clothing, like a diamond pattern to the large patch and dots to her jacket to make it look distressed and worn.    I shaded around the image using Prismacolor pencils and oms and sponged the outer edge of the image panel with Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy Distress Inks.  I finished up by adding black glitter to the broom and crow and iridescent glitter randomly around the image. 
The patterned paper is from the Echo Park Chillingsworth pad and I tied a sheer black ribbon and some black twine around the bottom. The sentiment is an old wood mounted stamp from Rubber Soul.

My Creepy Little Friend

What day is it?  Come on, I know you can hear me!  Welcome to hump day :)
I have a fun Halloween stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs today.  This is Grim.  He’s way more cute than creepy!

The entire image was first colored with Copic Markers.  Then I went back in with a black Prismacolor pencil and added shading over the marker.  I also used a periwinkle pencil to add shading around the image.  I sponged around the panel edges with Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy.   
The paper is from All Hallows Eve by Carta Bella.   I finished it off by adding the matted sentiment that is from The Witch Is In cling set by Anna Wight.
I have a bunch of new fun fall and Halloween (not to mention Christmas/winter!) images from WSD that I hope to ink up and share soon!

Happy Haunting!

I am so excited about today’s set! I love Halloween! Everything about it…the costumes, the candy, all the scary and fun stuff!

Witching you a Happy Halloween is a wonderful collection of fun vintage style images from Flourishes designed by Marcella Hawley. This first card showcases three of the fun images from this set.

The images were all stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. The hat and pumpkin were cut out and popped up on the main panel that the shoe was stamped on. The panel with the boot already on it was spritzed with Glimmer Mist in Graphite before the images were added. I created the tiny paper flower on the hat by punching several tiny flowers and fixing them with a brad before spraying them with water and crinkling them up. Not my idea, I got it from a Magnolia magazine. Only problem with this was that the black dye in this paper actually ran and stained my fingers! It was thin, low end paper that I like to use for matting and applications such a this when a thick paper would not have worked on such a tiny piece. The fun patterned paper is from a Halloween paper pad by Recollections.

Here I just used the broom which was also colored with Copic markers. I also used Prismacolor pencil in Periwinkle with oms to shade around it. A touch with a Stardust Gelly Roll pens added soft sparkle. The patterned paper is from Making Memories. I stamped the black back panel with a flourish from the set and embossed it with black ep. I trimmed part of a larger pearl flourish embellishment and decorated the corner. I also added a piece of gorgeous black May Arts Silk ribbon and added another tiny flower. It was very hard to photograph the all the black on black, but trust me, it’s all there!

Have a bite

I’ve been a slacker, I know…my days are all screwed up with back to school-which is now home from school for the jewish holiday. Yikes! I have been working on a few things though so here’s one I can share today!

I love all the Kraftin Kimmie stamps but these Halloween ones are just so much fun! How evil and cute is Fred? This is Fred & Ginger from the Moonlight Whispers line. I based his cape with a Copic marker but the entire picture including his cape is then colored with Prismacolor pencils and oms. After I colored Gingers dress I covered it with purple glitter. She’s very fancy for her dinner date! I matted the image with black cardstock and layered it on a piece of patterned paper from the Eerie line by Basic Grey. I punched and rolled some paper flowers and added a punched bat along with the sentiment cut with a tag Spellbinder Nestabilitie die.

Hopefully by this weekend I will be caught up and back on a regular schedule…yeah, we’ll see. Until then, everyone have a great day!

Throwdown Wednesday

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday again, already! Time is really flying now…school starts in a week here. Summer’s last hurrah, hanging on to the 90’s as long as it can! I say, Goodbye!

Today for the Color Throwdown #108, Laura chose these lovely muted soft colors and I destroyed them, lol! I thought these colors would work great for my mummy, so I started coloring away. I was really getting into it, layering color after color until I thought she was just right. Then I found the perfect paper! After I put it all together I said “Wait! What were the colors this week again?” I strayed a bit from the original palette, but I still incorporated brown, kraft, and yellow. Adding the black and purple really pulled it away from the softness of the original colors. Oh well, that’s what happens when you get carried away!

This is Mitzi the Mummy from Kraftin Kimmie. Isn’t she cute? She’s colored up first with Copics then with Prismacolor Pencils and odorless mineral spirits. I dirtied up the edges with Distress Ink in Antique Linen to go with her dirty bandages. She paired perfectly with this piece of dp from the Eerie line by Basic Grey. The edge punch is EK Success and the bat punch from Martha Stewart.

High Hopes Challenge #51

Sorry I'm late folks! I got home Saturday afternoon after the most awesome wedding Friday night and then spent the day trick or treating! That was rough when all I really wanted to do was sleep! LOL! Anyway, here is High Hopes Challenge #51 "Snowflakes" hosted by Amy Leggate. I just love making sparkly snowflakes!

I stamped this sweet snowlady on watercolor paper with Versa Fine black ink and painted it with a combination of Twinkling H2O's, Shimmerz, and Blingz. The design paper is from the Eskimo Kisses by Basic Grey and the solid cardstock and ribbon is PTI. The blue mat behind the image is glitter paper from Doodlebugs and both were cut with Nestabilitie dies. I added a snowflake charm to the bow and snowflakes from both Marvy and Martha Stewart punches coated in Diamond Glaze and Martha Stewart Mica Flake glitter. I added a Prima flat backed gem to the center of each snowflake and some dots of Liquid Applique to the flower center on her hat. It's really very shimmery irl!

This is the gorgeous bride and groom. The bride wore stunning bright red satin heels with her dress and the wedding party was in black and the ladies all had on leopard print shoes-they were so elegant and so much fun! I can't wait to see the video!

Of course there are no pictures of my husband and I together...but here's what I got...

This is me with some Marines who'd crashed the wedding...that was fun! There was a dozen of them at least. How cute are they? Wish it was a better picture of me, but that doesn't happen often anyway, lol!

This is my hubby on the right with the limo driver...no he was not invited to the wedding. Turns out he and my hubs knew each other-small world!

This is Sean my 3 year old. He was a medieval knight and this is the only time he would wear his helmet.


This is Joey my 6 year old with his makeup done by dad. He loved being Dracula-he's a natural for the stage...I can see him now, lol!

Squeezin' in one last halloween card!

It seems that I have so many stamps and so little time this year...I never got to make even half the halloween cards that I intended, let alone mailed any this year! But I just had to get this one last card in before it was too late!

This is Bewitched-a-Tude from the Tiddly Ink line at Stamping Bella. Isn't she gorgeous! I wish my hair looked that good when I ride my broom, ahem, I mean when I drive my car. I used the new gorgeous Eerie papers from Basic Grey and the most delicious silk ribbon from Flourishes! I also added a witches hat charm that I got from BunnyZoesCrafts which seem to be sold out :(

My image is colored with Prisma color pencils and oms on Neenah Solar Crest White Ultra Smooth card stock. I used my Quickie Glue Pen and added Prisma Glitter from Judikins randomly around the image and on her dress. I also added some black flat backed gems from Kaiser to the right corner around the image. This is a sketch I have used before that I just love! It's WSC90 from Laurie Schmidlin. This is one that I find I want to use over and over again.

Does everyone have plans for Halloween? I have a Friday night wedding-we are staying overnight (sans kiddos, yippee!) and heading home in the morning to get the kids ready for trick or treating! Better charge up those camera batteries! Have a great day!

Emma all dressed up

I've had this cutie pie colored up for quite some time now and since my hand is feeling better ( I was diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome) I spent some time putting together a few layouts over the past weekend.

Sugar Plums Cow Emma is from CC Designs found at All That Scraps. She is part of the September set that I had purchased but you can buy each of the stamps individually. The image is colored with Copics on Neenah Solar Crest White Ultra Smooth cardstock. I added a little glitter to her pumpkin with Stickles. The orange dp is from the Halloween pad by Reminisce and the spider web border punch from Martha Stewart. I just had to add a tiny spider dangling from the bottom as well...it's a black flat backed gem from Kaiser that I added legs and a line to.

Well it's Friday and one week closer to Halloween! Have great weekend!

A little Spider Crazy

I've had this idea for a while now...ever since I saw a stamp that was similar. My design actually came out quite different. I went for the super clean and simple and I really like it!

I used my Scor-pal to create a diamond pattern on a piece of PTI Stampers Select White cardstock. I drew a line with a fine point Sharpie and added a spider Doodlebrad that I bought at my lss Scrappers Playground. I stamped the sentiment from PTI set 2009 Halloween Tags and punched with a SU word window punch. But I couldn't stop there...


This card uses a piece of dp from Recollections -this pad of Halloween paper is fantastic! I once again drew thread lines at varying lengths and at the end of each adhered a black gem from Kaiser in a few different sizes. I just added legs and the sentiment from the Anna Wight set Spooky Expressions from Whipper Snapper.

Dracula Ridley was printed on Neenah Solar Crest White Ultra Smooth cardstock and colored with Copics. I went over his cape with Shimmerz in Coal for some sparkle! He's cut out and popped up on a piece of paper from the Basic Grey 6x6 Eerie line. I used a bunch of decorative buttons I had picked up last year to help decorate my scene. I also used an EK Success bat border punch to punch some tiny bats that I added to the sky...which you can probably barely see in the pattern!

Who's your mummy?!

Ok ok, that was bad! But this mummy is oh so cute! You can find this CC Design Sugar Plum at All That Scraps. He's stamped on Neenah Solar Crest White and colored with Copics.

I saw several samples of this card where strips of white paper were used on the background panel to replicate the wrap of the mummy and I loved it so I tried my own. I tore strips of white paper using the edge of a deckle ruler and then distressed them with some Black Soot Distress Ink. I used a Nestie tag to cut out the sentiment and secured it with two Doodlebugs Sugared Brads and some twine I colored black with a Copic marker. The dot paper is from Bo Bunny.

Well at least it's not Monday! Have a good one!

Frightful and Delightful

Here's another Whipper Snapper from the new release. I love this kitty's big nose! I thought after I colored it that I should have made it pink...but my kitty has a black nose so it's in her likeness :) It's colored with Copics on Neenah Solar Crest white ultra smooth. I paired with with some layered Prima flowers and a brad that I sparkled up with some orange Stickles. The sentiment is from Anna Wight's set Spooky Expressions. The tiny flowers are from Stamping Bella. You'll see some random sparkle if you click on the picture and enlarge it too!

I hope everyone had a great weekend-we attended my hubs cousins annual Tiki party and it was a blast! Great food, great weather, great friends and family-good times! Have a great day!

A little late for Halloween

I know it's late but I have been seriously lazy and am just getting around to my Halloween pictures. I didn't even get any good one this year. I took the boys into our village (he he, sounds like it should have grass huts) for trick or treating in the stores. I tried to get them to pose inside the fabulous Bon Bons Chocolatier but the pics a bit soft-so I need to work on it before I can show it to anyone. Anyway, Sean was a Pteradactyl and Joey was Indiana Jones. Sean wouldn't put up his dinosaur head/hood and Joey was too impatient to get to trick or treating for smiling. Oh well, better luck next time!

It's a carving party

Hi Everyone-I've been super busy and I forgot to post yesterday! I wanted to share these quick invitations I made for my Pumpkin Carving Contest on Saturday. I got the instructions for the slider card from Nichole Heady's blog here. I had to make several so I kept it really simple and just stamped in black on kraft. The pumpkins are a Sizzix die and I just added a tiny bit of detail with Copic markers. There faces are stamped in black from a clear halloween set I have that I think is Stampendous. It's from last year and I don't think I ever used it! My Enabler offered me her jack o' lantern dies so I could use those faces but I am so glad I found the stamps instead-they are the perfect size and so much easier than cutting and glueing!

I hope the weather is nice since we are going to hold it in our backyard. I have prizes and lots of food and drink! If it's successful then it might be an annual event-we'll see! Hope everyone has a great day!

Teachers Gifts and the Scrappers Playground

I bought these yummy smelling Pumpkin Cream Roll candles by Village Candles from Home Goods a few weeks ago for my sons kindergarten teachers. He has two because he is in the dual language program and is learning Spanish along with his English curriculum. I also made a small candy bag for his bus driver. My son has had a, let say, not so easy time adjusting to kindergarten as he is not the center of attention anymore...and he needs lots of attention! I don't know where he gets that from because my husband and I are not like that at all. Anyway, along with the candles my husband said I should be offering his teachers money! Don't get me wrong, he's not bad, he can just be a bit trying, and they have to keep on him constantly. His spanish teacher called me laughing and said it's not just him (her kindergartener got timeout on his first day!) and not to fret. It also helps that he's cute ;)

I used the Spooky Sweets II from Papertrey Ink. I inked up the circle with several different chalk inks from Versamagic in an attempt to recreate this gorgeous image from Debbie Olsen, Thinking Inking. I used VersaMagic Perfect Plumeria for the cat and Spanish Olive for the sentiment. The circle is a combo of those two plus Pumpkin Spice. All of the circles were cut with Nestabilities. I inked around the orange scallop and added dots to each scallop with a purple fine point Sharpie marker. They are really a bit more vibrant and very pretty irl! The ribbon I wrapped around the top is Plum Pudding from Papertrey and it matches the Perfect Plumeria VersaMagic perfectly! Wow, say that three times fast!

The frosted tin tie bag is also from Papertrey. I stamped the images on it using Stazon in Opaque white and Jet Black. The tag is a Nestie and I just tied a knot on each end with black ribbon and adhered to the bag. I didn't want it to be too fussy for the male bus driver, who I suspect, will probably just toss it in the trash after he eats the M&M's anyway, gasp!!

I also want to give a quick shout out to Scrapper's Playground. This is the awesome scrapbook store I shop at where I won the scrapper's dash and grabbed loads of great products! I took a card class there last night, taught by none other than The Enabler, and we made two adorable halloween cards (I will try to post pics of these soon) with the Lizzie Anne Designs set Little People. We each were given a set to keep and a watercolor brush which we used to color the images. We had so much fun! Then to boot, when I checked out (because you know I HAD to buy stuff after class) I got to pick a pumpkin from the patch which would entitle me to a discount on my purchase anywhere from 5%-31% (an October promotion) and wouldn't you know I picked a 25% pumpkin! Good thing too because I don't think my wallet can take much more!!

Some Halloween projects

I made these bats and spiders last halloween before I began blogging and they are just too cute not to share. I think I got the idea from a magazine but I don't remember which one exactly, and I did take some liberties with my final creations.


It was so hard to photograph these black items! I tried outside, but what was I thinking using a white back drop? Anyway, this is his face close up. All began with styrofoam balls that I painted with black acrylic paint and a foam brush. The bats I also sprayed with Glimmer Mist in Midnight for some sparkle. I used a sheet of craft foam to create the wings and ears which I inserted slightly into the foam and secured with hot glue. Gotta be careful with that though because you can melt your styrofoam! The first picture is the bat hanging in front of my window in my livingroom. I was going to hang them random around my livingroom until I realized that since the walls and ceiling are plaster there is no way a thumb tack was penetrating! They are like cement!

These spiders are really my favorite. I wrapped the large ball with craft marabou securing with hot glue. The legs are just large chenille pipe cleaners that I pushed into the foam and secured with hot glue yet again. Some I added filament for hanging like above, and some I added a stick so that they could be added to flower pots or floral arrangements. I love my spider on a stick! Bet Andrew Zimmern's had a few...yuck.

The eyes of all my pets are ball head pins which I dipped into bright green pigment ink, Colorbox I think, and then dipped into clear ep and embossed. I did this several times until I got them thoroughly covered and bright and shiny!

A Quick Project for the Mantel

I love to decorate for Halloween!

I found these great mdf (medium density fiberboard) at Michaels on clearance for $1.00 each. I only bought a few because that wasn't a huge bargain for me. I found them again a few weeks later, for the same price and decided I needed a few more. When I got to the register they rang up $.29 each! Yeah baby! It was probably only a week later and I was back again...lets see what they have left...got a few more letters. This time they were $.14 each! Now THAT's a bargain!!!!

I painted these black and covered them with Imaginesce paper. The bats are from the Martha Stewart punch and I attached them to some wire I curled around a paint brush. The cat is from Whipper Snapper, Anna Wights Spooky Expressions and I cut him out and covered him in Diamond Glaze before adding him onto the O. Well, you won't be surprised to be seeing more words in the future...at $.14 I bought quite a few...lol!!

A late Monday post

I have finally decided to sit down at my pc today and catch up on my email. I even uploaded to SCS! I really slack on doing that. I am working on a card swap but ran out of black cs so until I can finish tomorrow I decided to make another Halloween card. Here's a card that I made today.

I used the adorable Spooky, Spooky, Spooky and Spooky Scene Set from CC Designs. All of the images in these sets are so cute. And did you know there was a suprise release on Friday? Yeah, I ordered another set...it's a sickness, but one that I KNOW you all can sympathize with!!

The above image is the front of the card. I cut a window in PTI cardstock and adhered acetate to the backside. I stamped the spider with Stazon and painted him from the back with acrylics. The white eyes on the front were also filled in with acrylic paint. I used some swiss dot black paper from Lasting Impressions to make the backside of the card. The width is just a 1/4 inch longer than the front so that I could fold it over and adhere it to the window panel. Then I used some trim from Doodlebugs Paper Frills to embellish. The Happy Halloween ribbon is from Martha Stewart that I got on clearance last year. The BOOOOOOO is stamped on Bazzill black with white acrylic and punched out. It's layer with a Making Memories brad and an orange Bazzill flower.

Below is the scene inside the card. I think it's cute but I wish I had made the sky a bit darker...seems too soft and pastel. But, that puppy is too cute for a super scary sky anyway, right? It's a little darker irl but I just couldn't do it justice in the photo. The fence is stamped on Lasting Impressions ( I can't believe they don't make these papers anymore!!) and cut out. The ghost is stamped in white and embossed on vellum and added to the scene. The moon was just a 1" circle I used for a mask and sponged around. I used Versa Magic in Night Sky, Pumpkin Spice, Perfect Plumeria, and Gingerbread for the background.

I could have kept building on the scene..like used grass so that Lucky isn't just floating-and maybe something in the tree-but if project, especially a card, takes too long, it's just not worth it because I won't give it away then! But these stamps just inpsire one to be creative. There are so many great samples out there.
