My late Color Throwdown #92

Will I ever catch up?! No, it seems these days! Yikes, if I don't clean my house soon it's gonna get up and walk away! It seems between sinus headaches, working, baseball, and birthday parties I haven't done a darn thing...and that goes for posting! Sorry I've been awol! Without further adieu...

Barbara is our hostess with the mostess today and picked these lovely colors!

I went very simple, which for me I find hard to do...if it's not all colored up I feel like it's half done. I love the style and I love when I see other people do it, but it's hard for me, you know?

Anyhoo...I used the SU! bird punch and made polka dots on the birds wing and scallops with a white gel pen. The strip of paper is a scrap of Heidi Grace that I had that matched perfectly with the Baja Breeze and the flower is from Prima. The sentiment is from a SU set of sentiments. Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

This week ourhostess is Broni and she has chosen these funky colors for us:

I mixed quite a few products here. My base is Tangerine Tango stamped with the Tin Type background from Papertrey Ink. The main image is from SU! A Flower For All Seasons colored with Copics. Both the image and scallop mat were cut with Nestabilities and then adhered to a large Prima flower. The patterned paper under that is from Making Memories Chloe’s Closet. The sentiment is from the set Tags for Spring from Papertrey Ink and so is the ribbon.

Color Throwdown #58 with Stampin Up

This weeks Color Throwdown challenge is being sponsored by SU demo Denise January at Sassy Stampin'. The colors for challenge #58 are Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, and Always Artichoke. I took liberties with these colors and although I used SU cardstock I used Ruby Red instead of Regal Rose. It was just workin' for me ;)


I chose to use this adorable image from the set Hit the Road. I love the dog driving this jeep! My family loves to hike and explore and get out into nature and I love these images. I used some dp which I believe is Bella Rose, and retired, along with the cardstock. The image is stamped on Neenah cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I also shaded around the jeep image with a B0000 Copic and after cutting out the image with my Nesties I used Distress Ink in Antique Linen to shade the edges with the die in place. I used a bit of Diamond Glaze on the headlights and Stickles the give the dirt some extra umph!! The canoe is cut out and added to the top of the jeep and the entire image panel is popped up on the card. I did not have an appropriate sentiment to go with this so I wrote in "Road Trip" with a black Sakura gelly roll pen.

It's My Turn...

To host this weeks Color Throwdown and we are up to #41. My color choice this week was inspired by The Green Stack from Die Cuts with a View. I LOVE that paper! This was a really fun card to make.


I used SU Under the Stars. All images are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar Crest Ultra Smooth white cardstock and colored with Copics. Most are popped up with dimensional dots. I created the grass with decorative edge scissors and cut down between the "blades" and pulled some forward. The balloon are a Martha Stewart punch and I used some black wild wire for their string. The Happy Birthday sentiment and the candle on the s'more are from Studio G clear sets from Michaels. I added some sparkle to the flame and around it with a Sakura Stardust pen.

For a Big Birthday

My husband has a cousin who is celebrating a big birthday this weekend, much to her surprise, so I wanted to make her a special card. I though for this one it should be elegant instead of whimsical...see I can do both! Anyway, rather than my usual color it and see what paper I have to coordinate, I picked all of my patterned paper first. The layout of this card I picked up from Pam (4hounds) at Indigo Studio. She creates the most beautiful layered and 3D flower images. I stamped the large flowers, all images from SU! Delight in Life, in Versa Magic Aegean Blue and all the small flowers in VM Jumbo Java. The two flowers are stamped on the same KandCo. paper...the red polka dot is the reverse. I cut them out and added brads, the large ones from Making Memories. The sentiment is stamped in Memories Artprint Brown, on cream cardstock and layered on more polka dot pp using my Nestabilities. It is matted on additional KandCo. paper and the flowers were popped up all around it. The edges of the flowers and panels are sponged with the Artprint brown too. The ribbon is through a slide from the SU! Hodgepodge hardware collection. It turned out to be a really large card, six by six square and the their is quite a bit of dimension...I guess I have to put it in a box! How does everyone else package these large cards? If you have any clever ideas please let me know, thanks!!

Looking for Treasure

I love using Matey's Map and Ahoy Matey from SU! I loved the card posted by stampintoo so I made a similar one. Her charms are so cute. I distressed the paper edges with scissors and my fingernail, crumpled a bit, and then inked it up real good with Distress Inks in Walnut Stain and Tea Dye. The image is watercolored with a waterbrush and dye markers. I stamped the ship twice on another piece of paper, watercolored, cut out both images and put them together with foam tape and popped them up again on the background. I used patterned paper from Rusty Pickle's Cap n' Jack line and distressed and curled the edges. I wrapped some hemp around it before I mounted it to the card. I had inky fingers and paper shavings all over...I love messy projects! I really like this scene and with two boys and pirates being so popular right now I'm sure I will be making many more!

A Pick Up for Valentines Day

This truck is so much fun to stamp and cut out. It was one of those stamp sets that I "had to have" and then never used. It must have sat at least 6 months before I picked it up. I was browsing Kittie's gallery one day and was blown away by her images with this little truck. Well, all of her images actually! Anyway she inspired me to dust off this set and start inkin'. I decided that the foreground needed a little something extra and so I added the daises...not sure how I feel about them. I like them...but then I don't. I feel like the ribbon is a bit boring too, just having one of those days I guess. I will have to work on it and that's ok because I love using this little guy! The truck is watercolored with a waterbrush and markers, the hearts with Copics. After stamping the trees I pounced with evergreen to fill in and give it depth. The road was stipple with Walnut Stain and Tea Dye but then I decided to add a piece of brown cs which was torn and stippled. I also drew lines on the "road". I stippled Frost White and Faded Jeans on the sky for clouds.
