Let Me Eat Cake

I just adore the whimsical image from Eat Cake Graphics and I am honored to be a designer for them for the next few months.  Today over at A Sprinkling of Samples and Techniques Holly shared this card I call Wonderful.



I stamped Paddling in the Canoe with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and colored it with Copic markers.  I cut the image with a Deckle Edge Rectangle die from Spellbinders and sponged blue ink on the panel with the die still in place.  I added a tiny bit of yellow above the boys head to hint at a sun.  I also added glitter to the water lines under the canoe.

I used a border punch to create the waves and also glittered the top of each.  It’s mounted on patterned paper from DCWV Summer Magic stack.  Then I finished it with a piece of grosgrain ribbon that I ruffled to mimic the waves.   The sentiment is from a collection by Kristin Bueter for My Time Made Easy.

Happy Halloween!

I have one last card to share with you before the Halloween hours run out! 
This is Griselda On Her Broom from Eat Cake Graphics.  Another really fun image!

I die cut a circle out of yellow card stock and sponged it to give it some depth for my moon.  I stamped Griselda on both the moon and white card stock.  I colored her up on the white and cut out and placed on the moon.  After applying the base layer of Copic marker, I went in with a darker shade and began to scribble it in.  I loved the loose look of the ink and thought it really worked well on this fun image…so that’s what I went with!
I rubbed I-Kan-Dee pearlescent chalk all over the moon in a soft yellow to give it some shimmer...although doesn't really show in the photo.  Can you see it?  It’s there, I promise!

I added the sentiment Broom Fits, also colored with Copics and popped up on adhesive foam dots.  The bats were created with a Martha Stewart punch from black paper and Stickles.  The paper is from the Blackbird line by Memory Box.

Witch Way to Fly

I have a fun card to share today using a sweet image from Eat Cake Graphics.   This is Hank on his Hoover.

I stamped Hank on white card stock and colored him with Copic Markers.  I trimmed it out closely and popped it up on designer paper from the Basic Grey Eerie pad.    I stamped the sentiment   (a bit crooked, errrr) and the fun Skully Flowers on a white panel trimmed with purple card stock. 
I picked up quite a few fun new Halloween images from ECG recently…so I hope to find time to show you a few more cards.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Welcome to another Color Throwdown! I hope today’s color palette will warm you up a bit! It was so cold here on Monday that I had a fire in the fireplace and the oven on just about all day…I couldn’t get my drafty little house warm for nothin’! I love my drafty little house, really I do, but dang it was cold!

I used stamps from Eat Cake Graphics to create this cute scene. I used Sweet Sunday Sketch #91 for this…

My color inspiration was Marjolaine by Basic Grey. I love this paper! I stamped the Porch with light, kinda tilted like mine, then added the kitty called Fluffy has more to say, on the porch. I just love his expression! I stamped Fluffy again and cut him out and popped him up. The house and Fluffy are colored with Copics and the shading around Fluffy is Prismacolor pencils. The glow from the porch light and evening shade around the image was done with various Memento Dew Drop chalk inks. I went over the porch light with a clear Glaze pen to make it look like glass.

I punched few flowers and leaves and added them behind the sentiment, which is from Savvy Stamps (are they still around?) that I cut with a Spellbinders tag die and secured with couple of brads.

No Season like Snow Season

Yeah, that was silly…

Today’s card features another group of fabulous images from Eat Cake Graphics. Below featured are Waldo Bear Tasting Snow, Nutmeg Squirrel, and Tiny Tweet wearing earmuffs. Each one is just cuter than the next! If you haven’t been to the A Sprinkling of Samples and Techniques blog you are missing some fantastic samples using Eat Cake Graphics images so check them out!

The images are all stamped on Flourishes Classic White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. The paper is from Eskimo Kisses by Basic Grey and all images including the sentiment are from Eat Cake Graphics. The ribbon is just some random spool in my stash. I used lots of mica flake glitter from Martha Stewart for the snow both on the ground and falling from the sky.

As we will be expecting more snow over the coming months I hopefully will be able to show a few more winter cards. Hope you enjoyed this! Have a great day!

The Color Throwdown is back!

Happy New Year everyone! Welcome to the first Color Throwdown challenge for 2011. CTD123 is hosted by Tammy and then Kristin created some digi paper in these very colors which you can download for free from the Color Throwdown blog!

Also this week we are welcoming back LeAnne after a short leave and a new guest designer, Lori Tecler. Yay!

I used this adorable image called Crumbs and Farley from Eat Cake Graphics. I had it for a while and I finally inked it up…and glad I did! Aren’t they sweet?

The image is stamped on Flourishes Classic White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I created a shadow around the image with various blue Prisma color pencils and after cutting the image with a rectangle Spellbinder die I inked inside the die with Versa Magic in Wheat. The lattice print paper and the floral are both digi papers created by Kristin. The ribbon is seam binding that I dyed by spraying with Glimmer Mist in Vanilla and Starfish. It’s a coral pink color a bit darker than Cameo Coral but a lovely accent. The friend sentiment is from an old clear set that I don’t have any info on. I think it might be from Stampendous…in addition to another sentiment it has a large whimsical butterfly and dragonfly with smiley faces. I used Laura’s banner die on the sentiment found at Lil’ Inker Designs.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Today’s crazy color combo for the Color Throwdown is brought to us by Tammy, and I call it crazy because it’s crazy how I used these for a winter card! It was tough I tell ya!

I used these adorable images of children on snow saucers from Eat Cake Graphics called Ethan and Oliver Pup snowy saucer fun and Little Jeffrey in his saucer. They have wonderful fun and whimsical images-and you’ll be seeing a lot more from me over the next several months as I am part of the Design Team for the next four months! The images are all colored with Copics and cut out and popped up over some super sparkly glitter cardstock. I used Liquid Pearls and glitter to make a little snow track as they flew down the hill!

I found that all of these colors are found in the Basic Grey Marakesh paper. I chose a pattern from there and SU pp and cardstock for my layout. The sentiment is from the All That Scraps set Wintertime Fun. I punched some Martha Stewart snowflakes from the same glitter cards stock the kids are on and added a few buttons to keep it masculine. These boys don’t look like they do bows or ribbons!

Lil’ Inker Stinker

I couldn’t resist! Laura, our own Lil’ Inker is sponsoring this weeks Color Throwdown. She is offering a die and stamp set, which you see feature on all of the design team cards this week to one lucky random winner from Lil’ Inker Designs along with ag designs. Here it is in all it’s glory!

I am hosting this weeks challenge and I found this color combo in a floral pattern on one of my trims…I thought it was a nice fall combo. I had this adorable Eat Cake Graphics image called Crumbs Away on my desk for about a week intending to stamp him up. I also had the Lil Inker stamp set above on my desk…so when I sat down the other night to create my challenge card it was already decided what I was going to do!

I used Copics to color the image then stamped the banner and the sentiment inside and drew a line between them. I didn’t use the die on this. I lightly inked around the panel then mounted it on this scrap dp along with a Prima pearl flourish. I used an EK Success punch to make the design on the edge of the Espresso panel before mounting to my Perfect Plum cardsbase. I used a clear glaze pen on the tiny lens of Crumbs googles. I think he’s adorable!
