Color Throwdown #61 with Gina K

Happy Wednesday everyone! This week the Color Throwdown is being sponsored by GinaK! I used the camper image from the set Are We There Yet? It's was stamped and colored with Copics, then cut out and popped up on the scene I created. I used Eclipse tape to make a mask for the mountains and sponged on different shades of green, using the negative piece I cut to mask the mountain so I could sponge the sky. I then used stencil brushes to pounce on fall colors in mustard, olive, red, and brown to create an autumn foliage scene on the mountains. I sketched in very light trunks and branches with a brown pencil. I masked the bottom to sponge on Distress Ink in Black Soot for the road and used an Inkssentials White Opaque pen for the dotted line. I finished by adding some Diamond Glaze to the windows on the camper to look like glass.

Hogwash

Good President's Day morning! I am working this morning since my husband is off from work and will be home with the boys. And since I am working the holiday I will get to take another day off in it's place...and I will do that when ALL the boys are at work and school so I can have the whole day to myself! I relish the thought....

Anyway, here's a card I made over the weekend. It's from High Hopes and I am not sure of the exact title but Hogwash sounds good! I had to have this adorable stamp but it sat uninked for quite some time as I tried to figure out what I was going to use it for. Well, after I realized how super cute it was after coloring it I decided I could use it for anything!

The image is colored with Copics on GinaK 120lb Pure Luxury paper. I inked around the panel with Distress Ink in Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain. I used Diamond Glaze on the bubbles and puddle. I also added glitter to the bubbles before they dried and I hope you can see the sparkle in the photo below. The picture just doesn't do it justice...it's really sparkly and oh so pretty!

I popped up the shower cap, tub feet, and bar of soap for a little added dimension. The red flowers are from the bridal dept at Michael's and started out pearly white then colored with a Copic. The others are Prima's that also started out natural color to which I added Copic colors. Each has a gem in the center. I finished it off by adding Rain Drops (I can't for the life of me remember who makes them...but they're those dimensional translucent adhesive dots in different colors...) to the corners of the panel in clear and blues. The patterened paper is from Bo Bunny...something Poppy....sorry! It's the graphic design on one side and the distressed pink on the other. Very pretty!

Big fish in a little pond

This is a birthday card for an 88 year old man who enjoys fishing and humor...I think this will fit the bill! This comical image is from Class Act Stamps which I found at the Heirloom Rubber Stamp show I attended this past fall. I don't (or I didn't) know anyone who fishes that I normally send cards to, but the image was too funny and too cheap not to pick up!

I colored the image with Prismas and oms. It's stamped on Gina K's Pure Luxury 120 lb. white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This is truly the heaviest and smoothest paper I have ever used. It was a joy to blend the Prisma's on this paper! I was skeptical at first using my Copics on it, but the resulting image (which will be shown later this month) changed my mind. I painted H2O's over the pencil on the fish. I also painted Shimmerz in Angel Wings over the water which you don't really see in the photo. The dp is Cogsmo from Cosmo Cricket and the brads are from American Crafts. The Dream Big sentiment is from Stampendous.

I wanted to keep the card simple both for mailing and for male! It's hard not to use a lot of bling and bows or flowers...but then I feel like it's too plain. I could have taken it apart and crazy sponged ink on it, but I was too lazy. Anyway, yesterday was my one year blogaversary and you know what that means...stay tuned!
