Magnolia’s for the weekend

Magnolias Graphic

Our third new Flourishes release is Magnolias and it’s stunning!  I really enjoyed coloring these gorgeous blooms.

I began by stamping my image on Flourishes Classic White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copic markers.

DPK_SneakPeek_Magnolias_wm

I used a Classic Rectangle die from Spellbinders to cut out the image.  The patterned paper is all from MME Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks.   I layered two toned silk ribbon over crocheted white lace . tied on the sentiment that I cut with a Tailor-Made Classic Tags die set  and added a Websters Pages Sparkler and stick pin.

All of the sets are in the Flourishes store now! Just click HERE. You’ll also see that we are offering our special New Release Bundle again – 10% off if you purchase all three stamp sets in one bundle!

You still have a chance to win the entire March release by playing in the Pinter-inspiration challenge.   Visit the Flourishes blog for all of the details!

Day two with Flourishes

Botanical Bookplates 1

What can I say?  It’s another stunning botanical from Marcella Hawley!   Botanical Bookplates Vol. 1 has images that also pair up with Flourishes new Tailor-Made Classic Bookplate Template Die.  It’s a beautiful combination!

Bookplate Die Packaging Front

For my card today I began by stamping the large violet image on kraft paper with VersaFine Onyx Black.  Then I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and blended with oms.

DPK_SneakPeek_BotBook_violet_wm

I also stamped and colored the smaller violet image the same way and cut it out with the bookplate die.  I trimmed the decorative edge from the image after I cut it out, then used the die on green cardstock and layered the image on top.   I used Chocolate Lime Candi dots on the photo corner and an adhesive pearl strip for embellishments.    I inked around the image panel and the sentiment panel with white chalk ink before matting also.  Did you notice my perfect stitching?  I mean seriously, I have never, ever, stitched that perfect before!  I am very proud, lol!

Are you ready to start peeking?

Mother's Words of Wisdom Graphic

Another beautiful floral from Marcella Hawley, this peony wreath is full of coloring loving blooms!
Peonies are one of my favorite flowers.  I have several in colors from light pink to burgundy that I support each year and wait patiently for those jumbo blooms to open up.  I just wish they lasted longer! They make a re-blooming lilac now…so maybe it’s just a matter of time!

DPK_SneakPeek_Motherswordswisdom_wm

I began by stamping my image on watercolor paper and then painting it with various re-inkers and a water color brush.   I added a small amount of Lemon Flower Soft to the centers which I then dabbed with a YR23 Copic marker to tone down a bit.  I used a Grand Circle die to cut out the image and a Classic Circles large die for the sentiment, both from Spellbinders.  I sponged around the image and sentiment with the dies in place and I attempted to stitch around the image.  I say attempted because it’s not as straight as it should have been.  I am still getting used to the pedal on my new Singer!   I tend to zoom away, lol!
All of the patterned paper is from MME A Beautiful Life.  I also used some May Arts Silk Ribbon and a butterfly charm from Pink Paislee.

It's Pre-Release Challenge Time at Flourishes!

Good Friday morning!

Last month, we let the cat out of the bag and told you that once in a while we'd usher in what we called a Pinter-inspiration challenge. We're getting on the Pinterest bandwagon and even have a Flourishes page HERE showing not only all of our sets but cards and techniques that inspire us! So, today's Pinter-inspiration is one inspired by the website Design Seeds. Here's a peek at what they do!!!

March Pinterinspiration copy

They take an image and then, produce a color palette taken from the gorgeous photo! You'll have to check out their website HERE for their literal daily inspiration! I could literally spend hours on their site!
HOW TO PLAY! So, do you want a chance to win Flourishes entire March Release? All you need to do is be inspired by the color palette above and use it in a creation! Once you are done, just link up here using the inlinkz widget and you will be in the running. You have until Friday, March 16th at 5PM  EST to enter! Use Flourishes stamps if you have them, but if you don't -- play along anyway -- you would win some! The winner will receive all three sets and our new Tailor-made die that will be unveiled in our newest release starting NEXT WEDNESDAY! If you upload to Splitcoaststampers, don't forget to use the keyword MAR12PIN! Good Luck!

These colors are really beautiful, but I have to admit that they really stumped me!  I think I pulled it off though.

DPK_FLLCMAR12_new

First I cut a piece of Flourishes Classic White card stock with a Tailor-Made Classic Keyhole die then I used the lovely set Birds and Vines.  I stamped the large vine image with a VersaMagic Dew Drop in Eggplant with the die still in place so that I would have a nice clean border.  Then I sponged around the image with a VersaMagic Dew Drop in Spring Pansy.  I lightly colored in the leaves on the vine with Copics-as it smears chalk ink,  I had to be extra careful not to touch the lines.  I used a Quickie Glue Pen and some Martha Stewart glitter and added sparkle to the flowers. Then I stamped a bird with the same ink in Turquoise Gem and cut it out and added it to the sentiment which is from the Tag Lines set.    The polka dot paper is a scrap and I don’t recall the maker.  I did emboss a white panel with a swiss dots folder from Cuttlebug.

Need some inspiration? Be sure to hop on over to our DT member’s blogs to see what fun they whipped up using these gorgeous shades of green and purple!

He Is Risen Graphic
Today you get to see Flourishes last new release for February and it’s called He Is Risen.    This is truly a gorgeous set perfect for Easter or any religious occasion.
DPK_SneakPeek_HeIsRisen_wm
I stamped the image on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics.  I paper pierced around the image after sponging it with a Versa Magic Dew Drop in Wheat.  I used Spica pens to add some shine to the center of the tiny blue flowers and the stamens on the lilies.    I used Spellbinders die Fleur Di Lis Rectangle for the mat.  All of the patterned paper is from the MME Lost and Found Breeze paper pad.
All of the sets are in the Flourishes store now! Just click HERE. You’ll also see that we are offering our special New Release Bundle again – 10% off if you purchase all three stamp sets in one bundle!

Noon time challenge!

Framed Challenge
Did you check out today’s noon time challenge on the Flourishes blog? Simply use a frame die or shape, or a stamped image on your card…it’s that easy!
I love doing really simple creations.   I began by stamping the lily of the valley and coordinating leaf image on the bottom left corner of the cardstock and coloring with Copics.  I used a Prismacolor pencil and oms to draw in some grass and shade underneath them.   I then drew a frame from the flowers around the panel with a Copic Multiliner.  I did that again on the sentiment panel.  The Sentiment is from the Hearts & Flowers set.
DPK_SneakPeek_TinyFlowersLOTV_wm
I embossed a piece of vellum with a Cuttlebug swiss dot folder and the dots just really stood out without having to ink them.
Now head on over to the Flourishes blog and join in this challenge for a chance to win the entire February release!

It’s a Tiny peek today!

Tiny Flowers and Tags Graphic
The new Tiny Tags set is a collection of tiny flowers and leaves and sentiments that can be combined endlessly to create so many different designs.  Today we are also debuting Flourishes second Tailor-Made die set by Spellbinders called Classic Tags.  These tiny tags are a perfect fit for the tiny flowers and sentiments!
Classic Tags Packaging Front
I created this fun wreath using the daisy and a leaf image.  I started by tracing a circle very lightly onto my cardstock with a pencil so that as I stamped the daisies I knew they would be even…in a circular sort of way!  Then I added in leaves here and there.  They are colored with Copics and shaded with Prismacolor pencils.
DPK_SneakPeek_TinyFlowersDaisy_wm
I used Spellbinders dies Picot Edge Circle and Standard Circles large to cut out the image and mat.  The patterned paper is from the Jillibean Soup, Spotted Owl Soup paper pad.   I stamped a single daisy and used a tiny tag die to cut it out and hang it from the ribbon with a piece of twine.    I finished by adding my sentiment to the center of the wreath.

Let the peeks begin!

Calla Lilies Graphic
Today kicks off sneak peeks for Flourishes February releases!  Today I have a sample from the beautiful new Calla Lilies set penned by no other than the very talented Marcella Hawley.  Another set of gorgeous flowers to color!
I stamped the large calla lily image on Flourishes Classic White card stock with Tuxedo Black in from Memento. I colored the image with Copic markers and shaded around it with Prismacolor pencils and oms.  I sponged around the panel with Wheat ink from a Versa Magic Dew Drop.
DPK_SneakPeek_CallaPink_wm
I used a Spellbinders die from the Lacey Squares set.  The patterned paper is from the Kaiser Sweet Nothings paper pad.  I used a butterfly charm from Prima ( I think?)  Seem they are out of stock at Flourishes and I can’t link back to them.   I added the sentiment on the inside since the main image was so large and I didn’t leave room for it.

Flourishes February Release Challenge

It’s almost time for another Flourishes release and so we kick it off with a challenge! Februarys release challenge is to create a card containing black, white, and one color. That’s it. Simple, huh? You have until next Friday February 9th at 5pm. Use keyword FLLCFEB12 on your creation. You need to link your creation to the Flourishes blog post…so pop over for all of the details!
I decided to pull away from Valentine’s Day creations for a moment and head over to St. Patricks Day.
DPK_FLLCFEB12_wm
I used an image and sentiment from the Irish Blessing stamp set, stamping on Flourishes Classic White card stock. The image was colored with Copic markers and lightly sponged around the image panel with London Fog ink from Memento. The patterned paper is from the MME Lost and Found, Rosy paper pad. The ribbon is May Arts Faux Suede ruffle edge which I added a couple of buttons and bakers twine to.
The design team has lots of inspiration so make sure you pay each of them a visit!

Flourishes Sneak Peek day three

Our last Flourishes set for January is Love Sweet Love and it certainly is sweet!   Perfect sweets and treats for Valentine’s Day!
Love Sweet Love Graphic
I used the box of chocolates image and stamped it on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics.  The large rose was stamped and colored again and popped up on the box.  I used Spellbinders dies Classic Squares lg and Postage Stamps for the mat.  The patterned paper is from Basic Grey.
DPK_SneakPeek_LoveSweetLove_wm
I stamped the sentiment and hand cut it and the mat and added a few hearts that I made with a Martha Stewart punch.   I added a bit of pink lace trim and a pearl flourish along with glitter on the rose and chocolates.

Flourishes Noon Time Challenge

The 2012 Challenge
As we ring in the new year, let's be inspired by the numbers we'll use for the next 300 plus days! It's a limited supply challenge that revolves around 2012! So, here's your recipe: You can only use 2 colors. You can use 0 bling. You must use at least 1 embellishment and you can only have 2 layers! Let's see that creativity shine! If you upload to a gallery, please use the key word FLLCJAN12. Entries must be in before Friday, January 13th at 5PM EST.
Can I just say that this was way harder for me than I thought it was going to be?!  Two layers only?  Really?
DPK_The2012Challenge_wm
Okay, so my simple card is simply a sentiment from the Heartlines set stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock  and colored with Copics.  It was die cut with a Classic Circles large die from Spellbinders and sponged it with Wheat ink from VersaMagic while still in the die.  I used the Heart Circles die for the mat.   All of the paper is from the Basic Grey Bittersweet paper line.   I used a May Arts silk ribbon and pushed a stick pin through the bow.
These designers are also playing in this challenge so go get some inspiration!

Then head over the the Flourishes Blog to join in this challenge!

Flourishes Sneak Peek day two

Today’s pretty new set from Flourishes is called Heartlines.  It contains several sweet sentiments of love!  They are large enough to be a lovely focal point all on their own.
Heartlines Graphic
And I did just that!  I used the lovely new 123 Create Kit called Sweet Nothings and stamped the sentiment directly on one of the die cut tags in the paper pad.  Then I used a die from Labels Fourteen by Spellbinders underneath that along with a  heart shaped paper doily, both which have been inked on the edges with VersaMagic inks in Wheat and Jumbo Java.
DPK_SneakPeek_HeartLines_wm
I used two ribbons from the kit and some lace from my stash along with a button tied with twine. A few heart shaped self adhesive crystals on either side of the sentiment.

Flourishes Love

Hello and welcome to day one of Flourishes' fabulous sneak peeks for January! We have three new sets coming your way designed to deliver a little love to someone else's life! The calendar might say winter but we're sure these Valentine sets will WARM your heart!

Introducing...

This classic set -- called From the Heart -- penned by Becky Fleck offers an antique flavor for Valentine's Day! An ornate heart stands as a focal point and is a perfect companion to Spellbinders Classic Heart Nestabilities die (S4-136) and Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Heart Nestabilities Dies (S4-137). A curled banner is the perfect accent -- allowing a few of the sentiments to be stamped inside! Would you like to win this set? All you need to do is leave some love in the form of a comment on the blogs below! Why? You need to try to figure out…

My card today not only showcases the new stamp set, but also uses this weeks Color Throwdown colors. Broni is hosting this weeks great color challenge. Love her inspiration picture!

swatch 174

I used paper from the MME Stella and Rose paper pad called Hattie, stamping the heart image on patterned paper and embossing in white. I stamped the banner on white cardstock and added the sentiment, then cutting it out and sponging around the edges and popping it up on the heart. I loved using these non traditional colors for a Valentine’s Day card. Could also be just a card to say I love you, anytime too!

DPK_CTD174_FLLC_jan11_wm

I used a pearl scallop trim from Recollections across the bottom and tied a heart shaped lock charm to the twill. The other pearls we cut from a larger cluster.

Flourishes January Release Challenge

The New Year Challenge Graphic
Ring in the new year with “Father Time” or “Baby New Year” – this challenge is a fight between new and old! To be in the running, simply use a card that showcases an image of time (i.e. one of our calendars, the Moments in Time set) or one that showcases little baby new year i.e. a baby card. Either will get you in the running to win the entire January release!  Visit the Flourishes blog for all the details.
Today I am showcasing the new 123 Create Kits called Sweet Nothings.  It contains beautiful vintage print paper from Kaiser, lovely ribbons, and perfect little adhesive gems.  Get yours here!
123 Create Kit Sweet Nothings plus Banner_edited-1
I decided on a baby themed card and I used the Baby Love set.

I stamped the images and sentiment on Flourishes Classic White card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.   I used Prismacolor pencils and oms to color the images and then I sponged around the panel with Wheat ink from Versa Magic.

The First Noel

Our last new Flourishes set for November is The First Noel. This beautiful silhouette set is big and bold.

The First Noel Graphic

I stamped my image with Versa Fine Sepia ink on patterned paper, old old piece of 12x12 that I think is from Magenta.

DPK_SneakPeek_TheFirstNoel_wm

I used Spellbinders die Fleur De Lis rectangles to make a mat for the image using gold card stock. It’s a deep rich shiny paper that really looks pretty in real life. The background paper is a scrap of Basic Grey…I’m not sure which winter line it’s from, but it’s a few years old. I added some Stickles to the stars and put the sentiment on the inside as I didn’t have room on the front. I tried to add ribbons, but nothing was appropriate-so I just left it simple. I used a Stardust pen to add sparkle to the stars and halo’s and other random area’s of the image. Lastly I added tiny crystal gems in topaz to the stars. You can see the sparkle in the image below.

All sets are live in the store today, so head over to Flourishes and see them in all their glory!

Joy is in the Air

Joy Is In The Air Graphic

A really fun new set Flourishes has today! Joy is in the air contains a snowglobe image with three different scenes you can place inside. This is fun!

DPK_SneakPeek_JoyIntheAir_wm

I stamped my image on watercolor paper and painted it with various reinkers. Then I used a Marvy Liquid Applique pen to make snowflakes falling on the scene. I then covered the glove with Crystal Effects-two coats so that I could cover the snowflakes and make it thicker in the center so that it would be round like the globe. The paper is from the Authentique paper pad called Wonder. I used a Martha Stewart border die on the red panel and the heart corner is from the Fanciful Holiday die set from Spellbinders. Some twine, natural linen ribbon, and a row of buttons and done.

Here you can get a better look at the snowflakes and Crystal Effects. It took a long time to dry, but it looks really pretty!
