Papertrey color challenge and an injury

Today the PTI challenge is a color one and although I suffered an injury today that kept me from house cleaning, I managed to crank out a card after dinner. Take out. Couldn't cook with this injury either, but we'll get to that later. You can find details here on Nichole Heady's blog.

All paper and the ribbon is from PTI. I used Comso and Leaf punches from Martha Stewart and adhered a small button to the center of each flower.
Now on to the injury. This morning I thought that I would rearrange the furniture in my 5 year olds room, not an easy feat by myself but I was determined. There is one tall bookcase-6 feet high. It's one of those inexpensive put it together yourself ones that I was planning on replacing but for today it would remain. As I moved it, I looked up thinking that I should really take everything off the top so they don't fall, but I didn't and moved it anyway. As I got it into the middle of the room I see that the back is starting to pop off. I head down to the basement to get some tiny finishing nails so I can reattach the back. I sit on the floor at the base of the bookcase and begin to hammer in my first nail when WHAM! Something fell from the top of the bookcase and hit me on the head so hard! I sat with my head in my right hand thinking that this must be what it feels like to get hit with a baseball bat. It was several minutes before the pain subsided enough for me to pick up my head...to the sight of blood, everywhere. My palm was filled and it had run down my arm and down my forehead. I was terrified to look in the mirror. As I got up it was dripping all over the floor on my way to the bathroom. It was really hard to see the wound so I just grabbed a wash cloth and held it to my head and tried to calm down. I then thought I should call some one since my hub was working and my kids was horrified. My 5 year old screamed he never saw real blood before, let alone all over his bedroom floor, and proceeded to climb to the top bunk. As I went into the kitchen to get the phone I started to sway and I knew I was going down. I sat on the floor with my back against the couch and called my mother. She's not really good in a crisis, but she was the closest. Oh, she's a whole other story and I'm afraid this post is already way to long! Anyway I held on to consciousness and waited for mom to show up. Oh, so you want to know what fell on my head?
It's a train whistle and my son has three of them, this one being the largest at about 9 inches. It probably doesn't even weigh one pound, but I guess it hit me just right and split my noggin! Anyway, I got the bleeding to stop and when I called my husband and told him that I might need to go to the ER for stitches he told me that they would shave my hair. Ok, I was NOT going to the ER. The thought of the ER on a Saturday morning, and getting stitches was bad enough, but to think they would shave a whole section of hair off terrified me! I layed down for hours just putting ice and pressure on it until the bleeding stopped completely and I was able to function with only a slight headache.
I am going to take Tylenol again before bed and hope I get a good nights sleep and the wound will stay closed. I hope everyone else had an injury free day! Have a good night!

Holy crap!! I don't see blood on it - might make me queasy.....I am going to wag my finger while you hold your head - you probably should have gone to ER! But I feel bad for you - that sucks - but glad you could function enough to make this beautiful card!

Where did you say you got your medical degree? I don't remember a "Dr." before your name. . .Are you nuts???? You could have had a concusion. . .or a cracked skull! If you continue to have headaches, you need at the very least see your GP. I worry about you kiddo! Best, Curt
