The Retro Owl

This is another image from Sideshow Stamps. They have some great funky and retro images. I have several owl images from them and this is the first one I have used so far. A lot went into making this...lets see if I can remember everything!

The background panel is Basic Grey from the Infuse line. I stamps swirls on it from the sets Swirls V1 and Swirls V2 from Autumn Leaves in Versa Magic chalk inks, browns and yellows. I stamped the owl on to the pp I created in Palette Noir. I colored some areas in with Copics. I stamped the image again on PTI white and colored with Copics. I pieced several areas from the white onto the pp with foam adhesive for dimension. I added sparkle with a Sakura stardust pen. I also used Liquid Pearls in Lemon Yellow on his feet and flower on his head. I also added a tiny yellow gem in the center of the flower on his head. The larger flowers are Primas fixed with a Jumbo Brad from Making Memories which was Stickled with yellow. The "branch" is a chipboard swirl from Lil Davis Designs which I painted with Ranger Distress crackle paint in Vintage Photo and then antiqued with Black Soot distress ink to bring out the cracks. The sentiment is from a $1 set from Michaels and I used circle punches to mat and pop up on the main card.

Here is a closer photo from another angle so you can see the dimension and the gem.

I'm really sorry for the cruddy photos. My Canon digital SLR's flash went out...I didn't know they did that! It just popped and poof...no more flash. I have to see how to remedy that. In the meantime I am using a point and shoot, also Canon. It's a great little camera but I really need the stronger flash. What I really need is better studio lights, but that would actually require me to clean my craft area so that I could fit them in. You would cringe if you see how I work. No wonder I can never find what I am looking for! In my defense...it's the basement which my dh has been really working hard to remodel, so until my craft space is done I have no shelves or any permanent structures for storage. I kinda have boxes and buckets and bins everywhere with stuff in them just waiting for their new home. And, well, I'm a little messy too. But I can't create any other way! Happy Tuesday!

Love how your did the layers on your owl Danielle! wonderful colors on this great card!

your room sounds a lot like my room although I do have shelves and drawers and tables - it just seems that I'm not so good at putting it all away every time!! or I buy too much 'more' and have no where to put that!
