Friday Focus

Today the Flourishes Friday Focus is on dimension.  Visit the Flourishes blog for a beautiful tutorial from Christine

I am using the  large daffodil image from the Signs of Spring stamp set.  It has lovely large petals that are perfect for paper piecing.  And boy, am I looking for signs of spring!  My pussy willow is opening buds now and the daffodils and crocus are starting to peek through the soil-so exciting!!

I stamped one image on Flourishes classic white card stock and colored it with Copic markers.  I stamped just the flower on a second piece of paper and colored two petals and the center all of which were cut out and adhered over the original.  The two petals were popped up with a single piece of adhesive, then the center I built up with two layers of adhesive.   I added glitter to the petals with a Quickie Glue Pen.  I used this really pretty May Arts faux suede ruffle edge ribbon in celery and tied a button to it with some twine.  All of the design paper is Origins from Basic Grey.

Below is a close up…although now I wish I had photographed it from the side so you could really see the pop!

Oh lovely daffodil. I guess it's stating the obvious to say that the middle really pops... but it does. Love your card!
But I do have to say pussy willows blooming?? I'm jealous! It will probably be another month or more until that happens at my house. I'll have to sniff for the spring bulbs vicariously through you. ;-) Be sure to share pictures! Nothing excites me more than seeing spring bulbs growing... such a sweet promise that warmer weather is on it's way.

Ahhh, this is so pretty and it does just pop off the page!
I actually saw your dog profile picture on a comment that you made and I just had to click on it. He/she is so pretty! What kind of dog is it? A bearded Collie? I have a goldendoodle and two havanese that have a similar look. I love bearded, soft haired dogs. What a sweetie!
