Color Throwdown Wednesday

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Color Throwdown #119.  This weeks warm and cozy colors are brought to us by Barbara!

CTD119

Before I show you my card I want to welcome back Cathy Indelicato to the Color Throwdown team!  After an 8 month leave of absence we are so happy for her return!

My card today is super simple.  Really, I feel like maybe it’s too simple?

DPK_CTD119

I used the medium Spellbinder Nestie owl and cut it out of a piece of patterned paper from Memory Box called Twiggy.  All of the patterned paper is from the Twiggy line.  I used the new crochet die from MFT for some decorative trim. I knew it needed an embellishment but I just couldn’t bring myself to plop a big ole flower on it.  The owl seemed way to reserved for anything that fou fou.  So I punched a few leaves with a MS punch and sprayed them with Gumdrops Glimmer Mist then added them with a Vintage Sparkler from Webster’s pages I picked up from the Flourishes store.   The outside sentiment is from Wise Owl from Papertrey Ink as well as the inside sentiment which says “Happiness is not having what you want. It is wanting what you have”.

Check out the fantastic cards from our design team today!

Sometimes simple goes a long way, girl! This is stunning! Love how you added the owl with some subtle leaves and a ?!sparkler?!...it definitely looks like a pine cone :] Either way, the embellishments are perfect for your reserved owl. The crochet border is a nice touch ♥

Simple and fabulous! I love how this turned out! The crocheted border stands out so nicely against the darker colors, too!
