Sunday with High Hopes

Welcome to High Hopes Challenge #73.  Today our hostess Alex wants us to make bookmarks!  They are fun to make and give as gifts along with a great book…and to use yourself!

I decided to use Diver Dan and the Sea Floor Background along with  Starla Starfish and Clammy & Pearl.   I feel like all of the previous bookmarks I have made were geared towards women and so I really wanted to make one that would be great for a boy too!  This could also be totally feminine if you used a mermaid too! *hint*

I stamped my images on kraft paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits.  The starfish, clam, and seaweed were stamped on a separate piece of card stock, colored and cutout, and popped up on the bookmark panel.  They aren’t raised much and shouldn’t interfere or make the book too bulky when it’s inserted.

After coloring the images I went over most of them with Shimmerz in various colors to coordinate and add some shine.  The mask, bubbles, and pearl are coated with a clear Glaze Pen.

In the picture below you can see some of the sparkle!  I even chose some ribbon from my stash that I thought resembled seaweed.

Please visit the High Hopes blog to see all of the fantastic samples the design team came up with and play along for a chance at winning the weekly prize!  Have a great day!

I saw your bookmark on the challenge blog and just had to stop by and say how absolutely fabulous it is! Love the images you chose, your coloring is beautiful, and who wouldn't want to read just so they would have an excuse to use it and show it off! :)
