A challenge for a good cause!

On this World Cardmaking Day, We're joining Splitcoast Stampers by giving folks 'Hope they can Cling to!' Whether the stamps you use cling to acrylic or wood, they hold the power to convey hope and lift the spirits of anyone who sees what you create with them. That is the inspiration for SCS's “Hope You Can Cling To” stamping campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All this month, SCS is partnering with the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center for a
month long card drive to benefit those affected by breast cancer. The campaign kicks off TODAY! You can read up on the card drive HERE. To honor this heartfelt drive, Flourishes decided to offer up one heck of a challenge!

Today’s card does not use any stamps! Not one! I know?! I used a template that I have from a old Stampington magazine issue and made a little girls dress. I made a breast cancer ribbon from a narrow light pink ribbon that I dyed dark pink with a Copic marker. I used more of it to trim the sleeves and dress bottom. The lace at the bottom I created with a Martha Stewart border punch. I added flat backed pearls and a tiny rose and voila! Very simple and oh so sweet.

Here's the Challenge: Since women come in all shapes and sizes -- let's honor that! There are tall and skinny, round and shapely, even a little boxy. So, let's ditch the A-2 sized cards (4-1/4" by 5-1/2")and get creative. Anything goes! If you do that AND use ribbon, you'll get two entries! If you use a non-standard shape card, use ribbon and use the color pink, you'll have three chances to win! Let's see what you can create! When uploading to SCS, please use the keyword: FLLCWCMD10. Chicken for Breakfast

Well, not literally. I've been having so much fun with Anna's new chicken sets, Chickens in the Kitchen and What's Cookin'.

I am needing several birthday cards this month so here she is with a cake to celebrate. I colored and cut out the flags and threaded them with a piece of wild wire to make a small banner. All images are colored with Copics and the double sided papers are from Bo Bunny. The cake and wisk are colored cut out and added to the card. Chicken's apron and pocket are paper pieced.

Hogwash

Good President's Day morning! I am working this morning since my husband is off from work and will be home with the boys. And since I am working the holiday I will get to take another day off in it's place...and I will do that when ALL the boys are at work and school so I can have the whole day to myself! I relish the thought....

Anyway, here's a card I made over the weekend. It's from High Hopes and I am not sure of the exact title but Hogwash sounds good! I had to have this adorable stamp but it sat uninked for quite some time as I tried to figure out what I was going to use it for. Well, after I realized how super cute it was after coloring it I decided I could use it for anything!

The image is colored with Copics on GinaK 120lb Pure Luxury paper. I inked around the panel with Distress Ink in Scattered Straw and Walnut Stain. I used Diamond Glaze on the bubbles and puddle. I also added glitter to the bubbles before they dried and I hope you can see the sparkle in the photo below. The picture just doesn't do it justice...it's really sparkly and oh so pretty!

I popped up the shower cap, tub feet, and bar of soap for a little added dimension. The red flowers are from the bridal dept at Michael's and started out pearly white then colored with a Copic. The others are Prima's that also started out natural color to which I added Copic colors. Each has a gem in the center. I finished it off by adding Rain Drops (I can't for the life of me remember who makes them...but they're those dimensional translucent adhesive dots in different colors...) to the corners of the panel in clear and blues. The patterened paper is from Bo Bunny...something Poppy....sorry! It's the graphic design on one side and the distressed pink on the other. Very pretty!

The bug got me :(

I was smug at the bug...my whole family got sick except me. I stayed home from work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to nurse them. I used the time they were sleeping (which was a lot!) to stamp and create...and boy did I create! I sat on the couch about 11pm Friday night with my laptop editing images to post when my stomach started doing bad things. Yep, the bug caught up with me. Totally incapacitated me all day Saturday and I haven't gotten much done today either. Here it is almost dinner time on Sunday night and I haven't made dinner...nor do I plan to. But I do have to get a postin'!

This card design was inspired by Denise over at The Paper Landscaper. She's a fantastic artists from whom I get inspiration daily! I loved the simple design which is great for mass producing. I could also keep the design flat enough to mail without any extra padding. I tried my hand at some back lighting with the Prismas and OMS. The red came out ok, but the blue on the season's greeting got a bit mucky looking. So on the penguin I used I Kandee chalks instead. The polka dot paper is from Bo Bunny and has velvet ribbon on top. The holly paper is from Heidi Grace. The I embossed swirls on the top panel of each and the images are from Inkadinkado.

I am still really tired but I have so much to do. I am headed down to the basement to work on some laundry. My poor husband asked if it was too much trouble for me to wash some underwear for him. LOL! I guess I could manage it in between postings. Have a great night!

The Single Chick

Ok, not me, but the stamp! These are such great stamps for $1 from Imaginisce! I think this card is just adorable with her...she is such a great size to use alone. Stamped on PTI white with Distress Ink in Black Soot and colored in with Copics. I added a dot of stickles to the flower center. I punched the image out with a circle punch and layered onto a punched scalloped circle from Bazzill cardstock. I used the slot punch from SU to make holes on either side for the ribbon and mounted it all on Imaginisce dp, then more Bazzill, then Bo Bunny dp and Bazzill as the card base. I used sugared brads from Doodlebug Designs in the corners to finish it up. The finished size is 5x5. The ribbon is from Michaels...the $1 bin and it's really nice! I just wish I could tie a nice knot...more practice on that!

Some Day Your Prince Will Come

I made this Valentine card for a friend of mine who is single this VD. Although she's not trolling bars or hanging out with frogs I thought it was quite appropriate! Inside it says Someday your Prince will Come! The image and sentiment are from Inky Antics and the db is Bo Bunny. The image is colored with Copics. I found a package of heart buttons really cheap at Michaels and thought they'd make a nice simple embellishment. I used a trick I got from Anna Wight aka sweetmissdaisy, and used a thin strip of cardstock in the button instead of thread. A little glitter pen for extra sparkle and done. Nice and simple!
