Day Four–Dynamic Duos

The last beautiful new set from the very talented Marcella Hawley is Dynamic Duos: Peonies & Tulips for Power Poppy.   These two images are the same ones released in May as digital only.  This set contains both the Peonies and the Tulips images and several new sentiments.

These florals are two of my very favorites and I’m so happy to have them in both digital and polymer formats!   I tried something fun with my card today.

I stamped the peony image with VersaFine ink on watercolor paper, then I used various re-inkers and a paint brush to watercolor the image.  I wet the entire image and dropped color onto it with the paintbrush, letting it flow loosely around it.   Then I used the same paintbrush to splatter paint randomly around the image.

I cut out the image with a Blossom Five die from Spellbinders.  The patterned paper is from the Market paper pad by MME.  I hand cut the banners the sentiment is stamped on and added a simple tulle flower and some punched leaves.    I thought I was pretty savvy when it came to plants and flowers, but Marcy schooled us on the terminology of the peony bloom…it’s called a bomb.  Cool, huh?  Mine should be blooming any day now and I can’t wait!

Some of the Bloom Brigade ladies have samples to share today so don’t miss them!

  5. Beautiful card. I like your loose watercolouring. You learn something every day. I didn't know about peonies being called bombs.
