On this page I would like to share my other passion, photography. I started doing nature and landscape photography in 1992 when I made my first trip to Ireland. I shot film back then and when I joined the Huntington Camera Club in 1996 I moved to slide film. My very first workshop was with a wonderful photographer and mentor Nancy Rotenberg of Natural Tapestries. I always was interested in macro photography and she really helped me to explore that side and taught me a whole new appreciation for nature. I had the privilege of being a student and friend of Nancy's for many years and I owe her a great deal of credit and miss her dearly. I was very reluctant at first, but finally moved to digital when my first son was born in 2003. Now I am on my third digital SLR and not looking back!
My current equipment includes a Canon 7D camera body, Canon 24-105mm f4 IS lens, Canon 50mm f 1.4 lens (love this!!), Canon 70-200mm f4 lens, a Tamaron 90mm macro and a Sigma 180mm macro. I use a Gitzo G1325 (similar to this one) carbon fiber tripod with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ball head. Great combination for my heavy lenses.
