I stamped the image on Flourishes Classic white card stock and colored it with Copics. After cutting out the image I added glitter to the Angel’s wings and white flock to the cloud. I stamped the tiny Happy Valentines Day on the banner he is carrying. All of the patterned paper is from the Sweet Nothings pad from the 123 Create Kit Sweet Nothings. I used the large banner and “from the heart” sentiment from the set From the Heart. I cut it out and popped it up over the image panel. I used the Spellbinders dies Classic Circles large and Lacey Circles to mat the Angel on.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Happy Wednesday! Today our beautiful color challenge is being hosted by Joan. Lovely color combo!

I pulled out a sadly un-inked Lili of the Valley image called Bunches of Love.

I stamped this cutie on Flourishes classic white card stock and colored it with Copics. I used Spica glitter pens on the flowers and stems for a tiny sparkle. The paper is all from MME Blush 6x6 pad. The adhesive pearls are from Recollections and the ribbon was in my stash and I don’t recall where it’s from. I made a triple bow and added a flower shaped button. The heart on the sentiment is from a Martha Stewart punch.

Is it Monday already?

It comes too fast I say! But I have another super cute Tiddly Inks image to share with you today.

My 8 year old son is obsessed with Harry Potter. So is his best friend and next door neighbor, Tullia. She recently celebrated her birthday and I knew this wizard image would be perfect for her.

Wizardette was printed on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with a combination of Copics and Prismacolor pencils with oms. All but her robe were done with Copics. Her robe was based with a C00 Copic then colored with a black Prismacolor pencil and oms over it. The shading around the image is also pencil. The bubbles were coated with Crystal Effects and sprinkled with diamond glitter. I also used a Quickie Glitter pen and lots of glitter around the bubbles and wand.

The paper is Euphoria from Basic Grey and the May Arts two toned silk ribbon is from Flourishes. The circular sentiment is from the Dreamy Days sentiment set from Lili of the Valley.

Friday with Flourishes

TGIF! It’s a free for all today at Flourishes so I am going to show you another card using the newly released set From The Heart. It’s such a classy and elegant set to use for Valentine’s Day!

I stamped the heart on heavy vellum with Versa Mark and embossed it in gold. The banner and sentiment are stamped on patterned paper from the Sweet Nothings 123 Create Kit. I also used a butterfly patterned paper and more music note paper from the Sweet Nothings pad under my image. I used the beautiful Webster Estate polka dot organza ribbon with a piece of soft twine under the vellum. I tied on a tiny bronze bird charm I had from Recollections. I love how light and airy this card feels.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

This week at the Color Throwdown I am your hostess. My inspiration picture is romantic one so I felt that my card should be too.

I just can’t resist these new Tiddly Inks images, this one called Wryn Grow A Little Love. This digi image is printed on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils with oms.

I dotted her dress and all around her heart flowers with a Quickie Glue pen and diamond glitter from Judikins. She’s very sparkly, just check her out below! My little tag is a die from Spellbinders and the border was created with the Filigree Border die from PTI. I just added a button tied with some twine around a piece of twill.

Dream Big

Today I want to share a new digi image that I purchased recently. This is Wryn from Tiddly Inks. There are five new designs featuring Wryn. How cute is she!

Of course she’s a red head. I can’t help it. I love to make all my girls red heads. I wish mine was still that red and a lot less gray! That was tmi…ok, onto my card.

The image was printed on Flourishes classic white card stock and colored with Copic markers. I cut the image using a classic rectangle die from Spellbinders. I sponged the edges of the image with the die in place using VersaMagic chalk ink in Key Lime. I did the same using the tag die from Spellbinders for the sentiment. The patterned paper is all from Pixielicious from Cosmo Cricket. I used a piece of leftover ribbon and squeaked just enough out for trim and a bow. Lots of pretty glitter finishes her off.

On another note…I love my cat. Yes, I really do, but she is always in my way. And doesn’t care. See what I mean? Doesn’t matter how many times I put her on the floor or scold her. She just jumps right back up and lays flat out on top of whatever I am doing. My studio, my desk paying bills, laying down reading. I don’t know how she fits between my chin and the book I am holding but she does. All. The. Time. Mind you, I was actually working at my desk when she stretched out here. I had to get up and get my camera and still she didn’t move.

This is Afton. Here she’s saying “I’m not in your way or anything, right?'”

“No, seriously, you need to get here?”

No, no…you just get comfortable. Sorry I disturbed you. Sigh.

Flourishes Sneak Peek day three

Our last Flourishes set for January is Love Sweet Love and it certainly is sweet! Perfect sweets and treats for Valentine’s Day!

I used the box of chocolates image and stamped it on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics. The large rose was stamped and colored again and popped up on the box. I used Spellbinders dies Classic Squares lg and Postage Stamps for the mat. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey.

I stamped the sentiment and hand cut it and the mat and added a few hearts that I made with a Martha Stewart punch. I added a bit of pink lace trim and a pearl flourish along with glitter on the rose and chocolates.

Flourishes Noon Time Challenge

As we ring in the new year, let's be inspired by the numbers we'll use for the next 300 plus days! It's a limited supply challenge that revolves around 2012! So, here's your recipe: You can only use 2 colors. You can use 0 bling. You must use at least 1 embellishment and you can only have 2 layers! Let's see that creativity shine! If you upload to a gallery, please use the key word FLLCJAN12. Entries must be in before Friday, January 13th at 5PM EST.

Can I just say that this was way harder for me than I thought it was going to be?! Two layers only? Really?

Okay, so my simple card is simply a sentiment from the Heartlines set stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. It was die cut with a Classic Circles large die from Spellbinders and sponged it with Wheat ink from VersaMagic while still in the die. I used the Heart Circles die for the mat. All of the paper is from the Basic Grey Bittersweet paper line. I used a May Arts silk ribbon and pushed a stick pin through the bow.

Flourishes Sneak Peek day two

Today’s pretty new set from Flourishes is called Heartlines. It contains several sweet sentiments of love! They are large enough to be a lovely focal point all on their own.

And I did just that! I used the lovely new 123 Create Kit called Sweet Nothings and stamped the sentiment directly on one of the die cut tags in the paper pad. Then I used a die from Labels Fourteen by Spellbinders underneath that along with a heart shaped paper doily, both which have been inked on the edges with VersaMagic inks in Wheat and Jumbo Java.

I used two ribbons from the kit and some lace from my stash along with a button tied with twine. A few heart shaped self adhesive crystals on either side of the sentiment.

My card today not only showcases the new stamp set, but also uses this weeks Color Throwdown colors. Broni is hosting this weeks great color challenge. Love her inspiration picture!

I used paper from the MME Stella and Rose paper pad called Hattie, stamping the heart image on patterned paper and embossing in white. I stamped the banner on white cardstock and added the sentiment, then cutting it out and sponging around the edges and popping it up on the heart. I loved using these non traditional colors for a Valentine’s Day card. Could also be just a card to say I love you, anytime too!

I used a pearl scallop trim from Recollections across the bottom and tied a heart shaped lock charm to the twill. The other pearls we cut from a larger cluster.

Flourishes January Release Challenge

I decided on a baby themed card and I used the Baby Love set.

2012 Color Throwdown!

It’s a new year and a make over for the Color Throwdown! Our wonderful hostess this week is also our new graphics designer…yay Barbara!

These bold colors are a perfect way to start the new year. I used Sizzix dies from Tim Holtz Alterations, Weathered Clock and Tattered Banners.

I began die cutting the clock out of gray paper and sponged with Distress Ink in Black Soot. The hands are black with white pigment ink sponged on the edges. The banner is white cardstock sponged with more Black Soot and folded on the sides. The red cardstock was stamped with images and sentiments from Moments in Time by Flourishes using VersaMark ink. I finished it very simply with some black self adhesive gems from Kaiser.

Friday Focus

Today we have these cute little tins to showcase. Flourishes has these tins in stock for your altering fun and they are only 75 cents! You need a bunch at this price!

I pulled out my 123 Create Kit Sunshine again for this project. I just love this kit! I used a beautiful floral for the front of the tin. I used Labels Twenty from Spellbinders for the sentiment, which is from Tokens of Affection.

The inside I lined with more patterned paper from the MME Sunshine pad. The token and Happy Valentine’s Day sentiment are both from Tokens of Affection. I used a button for the center and surrounded it with flowers from Prima and Recollections. I scattered adhesive gems around it too.

Around the outside of the tin I added some beautiful pleated ribbon. The bottom card I added a flower and a ribbon tab so it can easily be pulled up. Underneath it I added a gift card.

Friday with Flourishes

Today I have a little project to share using the Sunshine 123 Create Kit.

I’ve been loving using this kit! It has a wonderful MME paper pad with matching buttons and coordinating ribbons and gems. I just love the color combo too! So, I decided to use it to alter this clothes pin.

I purchased a few of this giant clothes pins a few years ago with the intention of altering them for teachers gifts but I never got around to it (that’s a big theme here on this blog!). When I was moving into my new studio (doesn’t that sound fancy?!) I came across them and knew it was time. I made this one for my husbands niece for Christmas. She’s in college, so of course this will come with some cash!

I painted the clothes pin with white acrylic paint then using Mod Podge adhered patterned paper to the front and back. When it was dry I sanded all of the edges then sponged all around with Distress Ink in Walnut. On the front I added four buttons tied with twine.

And on the back I added some fabulous ruffled ribbon, gems, and a pretty fabric butterfly that I think is from Prima. Here I have shown the clothes pin holding a photo…it’s my Christmas card ( I couldn’t resist slipping in a pic of my boys) but it can easily hold a recipe or note or to do list…anything!

A few last minute cards

I still had a few Christmas cards to make for Christmas day so I turned to Whipper Snapper Designs. I used the adorable set from Anna Wight called Cozy Critters. These sweet little critters were just perfect to whip up some quick cards.

All of the patterned paper is from the Jillibean Soup paper pad Christmas Eve Chowder. Above I used a holly border punch from Martha Stewart, a flag die from Lil’ Inker Designs (0n all cards) and a Picot Edge Circle die and Classic Circles Large die from Spellbinders which I also used on the penguin card.

On both the dog and cat cards I used Labels Twenty Two from Spellbinders as well as the Classic Oval die.

On all of the hats, some of which were stamped on another piece of paper and cut out after coloring and popped up on the image, I used Marvy Liquid Applique and glitter. If you look close at the penguin card you can see that I used the Martha Stewart icicle border punch on Doodlebug glitter cardstock to add a border under the green strip. It almost disappears since the color is so close to the background of the patterned paper…but click for a close up, it’s there!

The pine border bunch on the kitty card is also from Martha Stewart.

All images are stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic markers. I shaded with Prismacolor pencils and oms. I think I am done, whew! See you tomorrow!

Birrrrd House

Today I wanted to share one of the gifts I’ve created this holiday. I bought this bird house stake in Target for $1.00 last year knowing I wanted to alter it. I finally got around to it when I saw the altered birdhouses my friend, the unnamed stamper,made! They were so frosty and so cute I just had to get going on mine.

I apologize for the lousy pictures…this is on a tall stake and I couldn’t get it in the light box so I was propping it up all around my studio to get a decent shot. Anyway, it started out lime green. I painted it with white acrylic paint then went over that with a concoction of white acrylic, Sno-Tex, and glitter. I mixed it all up in a small container and covered the entire house. I sprinkled it with more glitter while it was wet so it’s really sparkly! Then I set out with punches and adhesive gems and tiny rusty bells to decorate it all for Christmas.

Both sides have a kraft snowflake with some pine branches and a bell.

I created the wreath with the pine branch punch from Martha Stewart. I used Marvy Liquid Applique on all of the greenery, sprinkling it also with glitter while wet, then puffing up with a heat gun. I thought I would buy a pretty house plant, maybe a poinsettia or amaryllis for my SIL and add this decoration when we go there on Christmas day. Maybe in the plant I can get a better picture…if I do I will post it!

I have another one of these in orange…I think I need one for me too! I’d better get working :)

Let the Sunshine

Today I used the lovely new pear set again, this time pairing it…pairing the pear, ha! with the gorgeous 123 Create Kit called Sunshine. It contains a beautiful paper pad from MME and lots of gorgeous embellishments and ribbons.

I used the pear trio image and colored it with Copic Markers on Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock. I shaded around the image with Prismacolor pencils and oms. Then I used a Memento Dew Drop in Wheat and Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy to sponge around the image and sentiment panels. I stamped the branch image on a separate piece of card stock, colored it with Copics, and fussy cut it and popped it up on the patterned paper.

I used a beautiful ribbon and some dainty trim and added a pretty button with some twine tied through it. The patterned paper is so pretty that it could even stand alone without much embellishment.

We make a great pear!

Me and this new stamp set I mean! I just love today’s Flourishes sneak peek! Pears are one of my favorite fruits, and they come in several colors, making them fun to color!

This set contains several pear images and sentiments. I used the largest image and colored it with Copic Markers on Flourishes Classic White card stock. I used Spellbinders dies Standard Circles large for the main image and the Picot Edge Circle for the mat which is a great gold card stock I’ve had forever. It’s not too shiny but it’s got the perfect amount of gloss to set off those pretty pears.

Then I covered the pears in micro beads. I wanted them to look like frosted fruit, like the kind I have in a bowl for decoration. I coated them in Crystal Effects then poured on the Martha Stewart micro beads. It’s messy, look out! But the effect is gorgeous. See the close up below!

See the beads? Aren’t they pretty! I love the look, but the card is really heavy now, extra stamp you know, lol!

The paper is from Authentique and I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the red striped and black papers. I finished it off with a wide green velvet ribbon.

It’s just snow wonderful

It’s that time again, when we begin sneaking peeks at the Flourishes monthly release! December begins with Snow Wonderful!

This set contains two beautiful images that fit into the Tailor-Made Dies Classic Keyhole! Such an elegant shape that can be placed on a card or made into a tag! I love this die set!

I started by stamping my image with Memento Tuxedo black ink on Flourishes Classic White card stock. Then I colored it with Copic Markers.

I cut the image with the large Classic Keyhole die and sponged it with the die still in place. I also shaded around the image with Prismacolor pencils and oms (odorless mineral spirits). I stamped the sentiment on an iridescent green vellum and cut it out with the smaller die. The snowflakes are from a Martha Stewart punch and I inked and glittered them before adding the button centers. The paper is Basic Grey Wassail. The bottom border branch punch is also Martha Stewart.

Wednesday means Color Throwdown!

It’s our last Color Throwdown of 2011 and our hostess with the mostess is Kerri! Isn’t that a bright fun array of colors! At first I was a bit perplexed with them, then sitting on my desk right in front of me was Anna Wights Cozy Critters stamp set from Whipper Snapper Designs. It was just perfect for this challenge!

Now you say, Danielle, isn’t there a penguin in this set? And I say, why yes, yes there is. Okay, I planned on using the penguin image as my adorable Jillibean paper from the Christmas Eve Chowder line has all of these penguins on it, but some wires crossed, I stamped and colored the owl, then realized he was NOT a penguin. Still a bird. Yes, he flies, penguins don’t. But they both could eat fish…if an owl could just dive into the water and…oh never mind. He’s cute anyway!

In the picture below you can see the tinsel glitter from Recollections that I added to his scarf and then Stickles in Icicle and Stardust that I added the sentiment. I used a Martha Stewart icicle border punch for that.

Lace, pearls and flouncy ribbons - these are the things that make up a creation with a truly feminine flair. That's what is at the heart of this month's Flourishes challenge. To enter, let's see how you add a dose of femininity to your cards or creations! Link your project up here and if you upload to SCS, please use the key word FLLCDEC11. I realize that my card is not the most feminine…but I did use lovely trims from the Lace and Trim set…and lots of glitter of course! Back by popular demand, this lovely stamp set will add a touch of elegance to any creation and you can get it now for an incredible price! Check it out here!

I also used the Evergreen from Forest of Trees. I stamped several times in Cottage Ivy (Dew Drop) from Memento, stamping off to get lighter images in the background. The sentiment is from the Sentimental Christmas set. I stamped the pom pom fringe from the Lace and Trim set on the dark green cardstock that I used to mat the main image panel on in white pigment ink and then embossed with Detail White embossing powder. Then I added white flock to the pom poms. I just love this sweet trim! It adds a nice detail without any bulk. I also stamped the large lace image in Cottage Ivy on the inside of the card. The patterned paper is from Cosmo Crickets Mini Deck called Dear Mr. Santa.

Is it Wednesday already?

I’ve been so busy I can’t believe it’s a new Color Throwdown challenge already! Check out this sweet combo from Wanda!

Very warm, earthy, and vintagy. I thought these colors were perfect for my sweet Magenta deer. I bought this image and sentiment at a stamp show um, 3 years ago and finally inked it up. Crazy, right?!

I stamped both image and sentiment on Flourishes classic white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and based it with Copic markers. I then went over both with Prismacolor pencils…and then painted the deer with a Twinkling H20 for some sparkle.

In the picture below you can see all the glitter I added to his antlers and around…I also added it to the stars on the sentiment.

I used a Martha Stewart punch for the holly leaves and attached a small rusty bell. The background paper is from the Jillibean Soup paper pad called Christmas Eve Chowder.

I can’t believe it’s December already!

Wow, the days are flying by! My Christmas shopping is almost done (thank God for Etsy!) but I still have lots of crafting to do. Flourishes has a new calendar for 2012 and it’s in a 4 x 6 format. It’s a nice size to frame. You can find it here for only $2!

I decided to use Christmas Candles for a December calendar page.

After printing the calendar I stamped the candle image and colored it with Copic markers. I shaded around the image with Prismacolor pencils and oms. Then I glittered up those candles! I wanted them to look like frosted pillars so I covered them with Crystal Effects and poured on the glitter. It’s a clear chunky glitter with lots of texture. I freehanded some black lines to frame the page with a black Copic Multiliner. Just for a whimsical touch I colored a piece of vellum with a YG13 Copic marker then punch out a tiny Christmas tree and adhered it over the 25. It’s a very plain page, but I left it that way until I decide if it’s going to be a card or part of a full calendar. Then I can embellish appropriately. Less is more is me anyway ;)

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

This week our lovely hostess is Lynn and she picked this bright fun color combination for us. I decided to use the Night of Navy for nighttime and thought this cute Lili of the Valley image would work great.

I stamped Moonlight Wishes on kraft paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and oms.

I used Periwinkle pencil around the moon. I read on Paula’s blog that she loves this color for night skies, and she’s right, it’s perfect! I used a darker blue at the very edges for separation. I used Spica glitter pens in various colors on the holly leaves and berries and stars. Now, I wanted to add some additional shimmer so I used a Glimmer Mist in Vanilla Breeze but it’s really hard to see…and photograph. Hopefully you can see it in the photo below.

The image is matted on Night of Navy cut with a Spellbinders die Fleur De Lis Rectangles and the patterned paper is from Graphic 45. I used a Lil’ Inker Designs holly die from the Holly Jolly Die and Stamp Set and some MFT felt. I added them with some rustic twine and a rusty bell and a few red adhesive pearls.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Good morning everyone! I hope you are ready for today’s rockin’ color combo, brought to us by Lori who is hosting her first challenge with us today! I have lots of Christmas cards to make and these colors were just perfect for the image I chose, but would be great for any occasion!

I used this adorable Lili of the Valley image called Festive Little Robins. I stamped it on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copic markers. I added the shading with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits (oms). Then I sponged around the panel with a Versa Magic Dew Drop in Wheat. The patterned paper is from the Prima North Country pad. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the trim on the bottom of the red panel.

In the photo below you should be able to see the glitter I added with a Quickie Glue Pen. I embellished with some dark brown twine and a simple button, but now I think it looks kinda plain. Maybe I will add a little something something…maybe :)

Today is a very special day…it’s a very special birthday. Our one and only, completely irreplaceable, unforgettable, head honcho, rock steady, keep us in line, and loves us for who we are, eminent leader…Julie Koerber! Without her there wouldn’t be…well, we wouldn’t be! She is the foundation of our Senior Design Team and the fearless leader that we always can turn to! It’s a blog hop for Julie’s birthday and I have a special birthday card for just for her!

I started by stamping sublte images from Ferns and Fiddles onto Flourishes classic white card stock then stamping Happy Birthday from the Kids Play set. I then die cut using Spellbinders Labels Twenty, which was kept in place while I sponged the panel with Wheat ink from Versa Magic. The patterned paper is MME Six by Six Vanity Fair. I used a Martha Stewart butterfly punch and a scrap of pp and added them to the sentiment panel. I found the “stick pin” in my stash and found the colors similar and they added a nice little pop.

Flourishes Free For all Friday!

Today it’s a free for all at Flourishes and I hadn’t yet inked up this beautiful Amaryllis image from the Petals and Peace set.

I colored this image with Copic markers and die cut it with the largest die from the new Tailor-Made Keyhole Classics die set. I inked inside the die with Wheat ink from Versa Magic. The patterned paper is from the Authentique Wonder. The music note paper is a great compliment to the image. I found these little bells in Michaels and grouped a bunch and tied them around the bow. I’m on a bit of a bell kick, and you’ll be seeing lots of these little jinglies!

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Todays fun color combo is brought to us by Keva! I found several of these colors in my MME Darling Deer paper pad. I picked up this adorable image from The Artful Stamper at a stamp show a couple of weekends ago so I thought we’d try out these colors.

I stamped the image on PTI ivory card stock and colored it with Copics. I stamped the stockings again on a separate pieced of paper and colored them and pieced them on the image panel, but before I did that I shaded around them with Prismacolor Pencils and oms. I used two ribbons, one is Faux Suede Ruffle from May Arts and I used a scrap of crinkly red ribbon to make the bow and added a bell. The Dear Santa sentiment is from Sentimental Christmas by Flourishes.

The First Noel

Our last new Flourishes set for November is The First Noel. This beautiful silhouette set is big and bold.

I stamped my image with Versa Fine Sepia ink on patterned paper, old old piece of 12x12 that I think is from Magenta.

I used Spellbinders die Fleur De Lis rectangles to make a mat for the image using gold card stock. It’s a deep rich shiny paper that really looks pretty in real life. The background paper is a scrap of Basic Grey…I’m not sure which winter line it’s from, but it’s a few years old. I added some Stickles to the stars and put the sentiment on the inside as I didn’t have room on the front. I tried to add ribbons, but nothing was appropriate-so I just left it simple. I used a Stardust pen to add sparkle to the stars and halo’s and other random area’s of the image. Lastly I added tiny crystal gems in topaz to the stars. You can see the sparkle in the image below.

Joy is in the Air

A really fun new set Flourishes has today! Joy is in the air contains a snowglobe image with three different scenes you can place inside. This is fun!

I stamped my image on watercolor paper and painted it with various reinkers. Then I used a Marvy Liquid Applique pen to make snowflakes falling on the scene. I then covered the glove with Crystal Effects-two coats so that I could cover the snowflakes and make it thicker in the center so that it would be round like the globe. The paper is from the Authentique paper pad called Wonder. I used a Martha Stewart border die on the red panel and the heart corner is from the Fanciful Holiday die set from Spellbinders. Some twine, natural linen ribbon, and a row of buttons and done.

Here you can get a better look at the snowflakes and Crystal Effects. It took a long time to dry, but it looks really pretty!

Ooh, this is a beauty of a set from Flourishes. Introducing Petals and Peace. It contains two floral images and sentiments…and best of all Flourishes now has custom dies from Spellbinders that match this set! The first die set is called Classic Keyhole.

I used this beautiful rose and pine image and cut it out with the large die and created a tag with it.

I stamped the image on watercolor paper and painted it with various reinkers. I added glitter with a Quickie Glue Pen. I used the small die to cut out the sentiment and I shaded inside both dies with a frosty blue chalk ink. You can see that the top of the large die is the perfect shape to fit the die cut sentiment. I liked the way my image looked with the large end at the top…but you will see that most often it’s viewed with the large end at the bottom. In any case it works in both directions. The reason I chose to put my sentiment at the bottom instead is because I popped up my roses at two different levels and it wouldn’t be possible to put the sentiment over it…besides, I didn’t want to cover up those gorgeous roses!

Snowy Delights!

The snowman I used from Warm Winter Wishes is one of my favorites! I stamped him on kraft paper and colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits.

I created my snow with a Marvy Liquid Applique pen. Once I applied the liquid I sprinkled on glitter before I puffed it up. Below is a close up where you can see a lot more of the sparkle.

I used my Spellbinders die Labels Twenty Two for my image and layered him on a doily that I sprayed with Glimmer Mist in Vanilla. The patterned paper is from the Prima North Country pad. I love this paper!

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Hi everyone! I am hosting this weeks Color Throwdown and I picked my color scheme from the MME Lost and Found line paper pad called Breeze. I love the vintagy collage like papers in this pad.

My husbands birthday is tomorrow I made him a card using the PTI set Enjoy the Ride.

I die cut the car from patterned paper and cut out the window. I applied a piece of vellum to the back to make it appear to be glass. I found some rain dots too that I’ve had forever and they were perfect little headlights. A little twine and a button…very simple.

We have a new Guest Designer for month of November and we also have added another new team member. Please give a warm welcome to the newest CTD girl…Kerri Michaud. The team has so many wonderful samples to share today so head on over the check them out!

Simple Friday

Today for my Flourishes free for all post I chose to go very simple and let the patterned paper do most of the work for me.

I used a sentiment from the Christmas Candles set and cut it and the mat behind it out with Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two dies. I inked up the sentiment panel and added sparkle with a Quickie Glue Pen and some winter glitter. The patterned paper is from the Bo Bunny Dasher paper pad. I used snowflakes from a Martha Stewart punch that I covered in diamond dust and centered a gem in. The trim is brown solid wrinkled ribbon and crocheted ribbon similar to the one found here.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

This weeks super color combo is brought to us by Laura!

Aren’t these pretty? I didn’t have the Crate Paper Farm House paper that inspired Laura but I found that the Earth Love papers from Cosmo Cricket worked well. And Farmer John from Whipper Snapper Designs definitely fit the bill!

I stamped farmer John and then masked him with Eclipse tape and stamped the corn. The pumpkins were stamped over the corn knowing I was going to stamp them, and the bunny on separate paper and then pop them up on dimensional adhesive over the original. All images are colored with Copic markers. All of the dp except the mat behind the image are from the Earth Love pad…the mat is a scrap and I don’t know who makes it, but it was a good match. There are so many accessories in this stamp set the scene’s you can create are endless! I’ll be stamping more very soon with him and Betty!

Merry Kissmas!

Yeah! It’s Friday! I have another Christmas card to share using the Meet Me Under the Mistletoe set from Flourishes! This is such an elegant set with great sentiments.

I went very feminine on this and used pinks instead of reds. I colored the image with Copics and added glitter and berries with a Viva Décor dimensional paint pen. I used my Spellbinders Classic Ovals and Scalloped Ovals dies for the image and mat. The sentiment I stamped and hand cut a banner shape. The papers are all scraps, but I know the pink background panel is an embossed piece by Bazzill. It’s so pretty but probably not appropriate to give to my husband…too much pink, lol! I hope you can click on it and see all the sparkle!

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

This great halloween color combo is courtesy of Broni! This is my first halloween card this year! Doesn’t look like I’ll be mailing out any this year. I still love making them though…such a fun holiday!

I used this fun digi image from Tiddly Inks by Christy Croll called Cast A Spell. I base coated the image with Copics then shaded with Prismacolor pencils and oms. The patterned paper is from a halloween Recollections pad that I picked up in Michaels last year. The cute sparkly bat is also from Recollections. I picked up several packs of these halloween charms and I hope I get to use a few more soon! I wish I knew who made the sentiment, but I found it loose with some of my other stamps and it’s unmounted rubber that hadn’t been trimmed yet. I think I picked it up last year at a local stamp show. There are so many occasions to use that sentiment besides halloween, lol!

I used lots of glitter on her wings, dress, and from her hands. I also painted around the image with Shimmerz in Angel Wings. Hopefully you can see some of the sparkle in this close up below.

Down on the farm

Whipper Snapper Designs is releasing three new sets today and I am a proud designer for October! Today I am showing a card I made using Farmgirl Betty.

I created this scene by stamping Betty first, then masking her with Eclipse tape, then stamping the sunflowers and chicks. They were all stamped on Copic X-Press It blending paper and colored with Copic markers. I lightly shaded around the image with B0000 and added Stickles to the center of the sunflowers. I used a Spellbinders Nested Pennants die for the sentiment and shaded it with the die in place. I added a sunflower charm with some rustic twine and a button.

There are so many sweet images in this and the Farmer John set that I will be also be showing in the next few days. There are endless scene’s to create and great sentiments to go along!

Candles candles everywhere

The last gorgeous new set from Flourishes in the October line up is Christmas Candles. Beautiful images and sentiments for elegant creations!

I began by stamping the image on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics. I added some sparkle with a Stardust gelly roll pen to each flame then coated the glass candle holders with Crystal Effects. I used a Ranger Inkssentials white pen to add highlights here and there and cut out the image with a Spellbinders Classic Rectangle die. I used Labels Twenty Two to for the sentiment and Fanciful Holiday for the swirly die cut border at the top. The paper is Wassail from Basic Grey.

I hope you enjoyed all of this months stamp sets. It’s time for everyone to be getting started on their Christmas cards so don’t hesitate, you NEED these sets, lol! Okay, I never start mine early. What fun is it if you’re not in a last minute frenzy to get everything done before Christmas day?!!

This next set from Flourishes are fun silhouettes called a Season of Celebrations. I chose to use the sledding image from this set today.

I paired up this image with some fun paper from 3 Bugs in a Rug called Oh What Fun! I used my Spellbinders Labels Seventeen to cut out the image. I trimmed one of the snowman images from the paper and popped it up over the image. The snowflakes were made with a Martha Stewart punch and some dew drops. The design team came up with some great cards with this set today-you don’t want to miss these!

Pucker Up!

The next set up for the Flourishes October release sneak peek is Meet Me Under the Mistletoe. I love the classic images and great sentiments in this set!

I used paper from my new MME paper pad Darling Deer. I love the colors in this…not your classic Christmas colors, but very sophisticated! My image is stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. I used my Spellbinders dies Labels Twenty Two for the image and Classic Oval for the sentiment. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the branches under the sentiment. I used red braided trim and Natural Cotton Fringe and also some seam binding for the bow on top.

Flourishes October sneaks begin

Good morning everyone and welcome to the first October sneak peek from Flourishes! Today I have a card to show you using the new Holiday Sparkle set.

As you are reading this I am already in Florida on vacation. It’s a small family reunion of sorts with my husbands family and we are taking the kids to Disney World and Universal. It’s supposed to rain all week, so keep your fingers crossed that it’s not so bad that we can’t enjoy the rides and halloween in the Magic Kingdom!

On to my card…

This set is full of vintage Christmas ornaments…just like I remember on my grandma’s tree when I was little. I have several mercury glass ornaments myself and my Santa’s are my favorites! I stamped both the pine branch and Santa on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored them with Copics. Then they were cut out and popped up on the decorative paper from the Basic Grey Jovial pad. I sprayed the sentiment panel as well as the pine branch and Santa with Glimmer Mist and it has a really pretty sheen to it. I used Crystal Effects and Diamond Dust along the edges of the panel and it’s really sparkly!

Hopefully you can see some of the sparkle in the picture below.

Swimming for Katie fundraiser

"From October 10-12 some of the best stampers are joining together to support and encourage our friend and fellow stamper, Katie Renz, who is currently battling inoperable gastric cancer. If you're not familiar with her, Katie’s cancer story started just before Christmas last year. This young, beautiful, healthy, vibrant mother of 3 with her infectious smile was suddenly diagnosed with an inoperable cancer, virtually overnight. A few tummy aches and then stage 4 gastric cancer. Her first post about it is here. The idea of “Swimming for Katie” came from her recent post here.

This exclusive stamp used in my sample, designed by Becky Oehlers is available as a clear stamp, as well as a digi or a digi and SVG cut file. 100% of the profits go to Katie's fund to help her and her young family. Her husband Kevin and her three young children need our help and support. In addition to the Keep Swimming Octopus, Marianne Walker and True =D Doodle Designs both also donated digis that are for sale. Direct donations are also being accepted. Information central is HERE. The octopus is stamped on white cardstock first and the legs were colored, then stamped again on blue card stock, the body shaded with Prismacolor pencils, then cut out and pieced over the original. The crown and banner are both paper pieced and popped up for dimension. All of the design paper is from Cosmo Crickets Salt Air pad. I used my Spellbinders Standard Circles large and Classic Scalloped Circles large. I sponged around the circle and added Dew Drops to the scallops on the mat. I also used a decorative border punch from EK Success along the left edge.

Heavy Metal

Not a big hair band, although I’ve been known to bang heads with the best of them, ahem. This time it’s a challenge!

Silver, gold, copper or bronze, whichever metal you pick, just make it take center stage on your card or creation! FLLCOCT11. Deadline is October 14th at 5 PM Eastern.

I pulled out my Figs and Pomegranate set and stamped the large pomegranate image on Flourishes classic white card stock and colored it with a base of Copics and blended with Prismacolor pencils on top. After cutting the image with my Spellbinders Standard Circles large die I sponged it with Wheat Ink from a Versa Magic dew drop.

I used my new Picot Edge Circle die from Spellbinders for the mat. The paper is a copper metallic card stock that I purchased from my long lost local stamp shop several years ago. I was so happy to have this as it was a perfect match for my ribbon slider. I am not sure who makes the foiled card stock but it was a 12x12 sheet. The strip on the left was a mat piece of cardstock that I sprayed with Chestnut Brown Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels then embossed with a CB folder. The leaves from the Falling Leaves set were stamped on white card stock and sprayed with both Chestnut Brown and Moss Green Glimmer mist before cutting them out. Below you can see the shimmer on the leaves and cardstock, as well as the copper picot edge circle mat. The pomegranates were pained over with Garnet Twinkling H2O paint. They look so pretty!

I stamped the sentiment on some twill and added some copper adhesive nail heads. I curled some different colors of wild wire and used them as accents.

It’s hard to get the metallic accents to come through in photo’s but in real life it’s sparkly!

Today is going to be exciting! We have expanded the Color Throwdown family and debuting their creations today are 5 new members! Warm welcome and big hugs to these fantastic ladies:

I found todays colors in my MME Stella and Rose collection Hattie paper pad. I used my Medallion Motif set from Flourishes for the sentiment and used Spellbinders die cuts Parisian Accents for the matted sentiment and the bottom border. The top border is actually the waste after I cut the filigree border. The flower was made with the Spiral Blossoms One with a pearl in the center. A little ribbon, a little twine, and a couple of pearls and done! Very pretty colors!

WCMD Sneaky Peek!

In honor of World Card Making Day on Saturday, October 1st, we're kicking things off one day early in a wild and wacky fashion! Have we got a challenge for you! It's all about that inner kid and why we love card making in general - we get to be creative!

So, think like a kid and share your favorite animated character.
Find a picture of that character and then, be inspired by the colors for one fun-filled color challenge! Mine is below!

And now for my inspiration…Perry the Platypus from the Phineas and Ferb cartoon. I love that cartoon! I never thought in my adult life I would be watching cartoons, but with two boys I think I see them more now then I did when I was a kid!

I chose the What a Catch stamp set for my color combo. I thought it worked perfectly for a masculine card.

My image is stamped on Flourishes classic white card stock and colored with Copics. I’d love to tell you the names of all the patterned paper I used, but it was all scraps and I don’t remember. I just love the map paper though, and wanted to make sure Paradise Bay showed! Who doesn’t want to fish in paradise?! I do know that the blue dot is an embossed cardstock from Bazzill. I snipped a piece of a feather and tucked it under a button and twine to mimic a fly, and added a fish charm to my sentiment.

Wednesdays Color Throwdown

What can I say about this color combo? I love it! Kristin our hostess with the mostess this week is rockin’ the Color Throwdown with these colors inspired by her new digi papers created for MTME.

I used this adorable bunny image from The Cat’s Pajama’s called Wheel Love. Ooh, look at that nose and those jumbo ears! I love him!!

Okay, okay, on to the details! All of my patterned paper is from the digi paper pack Trendy Forest from MTME. I loves it! I couldn’t decide which prints to use, so I used them all (of the one’s that matched this challenge!) My bunny colored with Copics and matted with a Spellbinders Lacey Circles die. I just added a ribbon and some twine tied buttons. The banner is a PTI die and stamped with an old sentiment stamp…might be sassy stamps…any way, I just love this whimsical font.

Fall with Flourishes

Today I’ve used an image from one of my favorite new stamp sets, A Season of Thanks. I love the fall and rich warm tones of the season.

I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics. It was shaded with a Versa Magic Dew Drop in Wheat while still in the die. The Spellbinders dies used at Standard Circles large, Lacey Circles, and Fancy Tags Two. I ran a piece of twill through the tag die and added Kaiser adhesive pearls to the corners of the floral panel. All of the patterned paper is from the MME All Spice 6x6 pad. I’m not a die layering kinda girl…I think when other people do it, it looks great, but I’m not so confident. I was afraid the lacey circle and swirly tag were competing with each other so I kept the embellishments simple. But then again, I always do, don’t I? Too safe maybe? Ah, I’m a simple girl!

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Hey everyone, welcome to another Color Throwdown challenge! I am your hostess and this week my color inspiration came from the Blush paper pad from the Lost and Found line by MME.

I love this color combo…so rich, so sweet! I finally got my Button Boutique stamps from PTI inky.

I stamped the button background with Dark Chocolate Palette ink from PTI. I used different patterned papers to die cut the buttons using Buttoned Up 1 and Buttoned Up 2 coordinating dies. Very simple tea dyed twill, a doily, and a stick pin finish it up. The pretty patterned paper with the sweet chickadee’s is almost an embellishment in itself.

My favorite season!

Yes, fall is coming…and with that is Thanksgiving! Yum! Today’s Flourishes set is all about thanks! A Season of Thanks that is!

I love all of the images in this set, but this one might be my favorite. There’s just something about Indian corn that makes me smile! It was such a classic decoration that was always on my grandparents front door for the fall holidays and not one that I find many people using today. I love the warm fuzzy feeling that it gives me. I can’t wait to buy it and put it on my front door!

It’s stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. I really enjoyed coloring this image! I love bittersweet vine and it looks so pretty with the corn. There was some growing wild around the corner from me, but with a big tree that came down in the hurricane it looks like it took the vine with it. I’m thinking that I should be seeing it by now, but I’ll keep looking and hoping!

I used Spellbinders Classic Ovals and Classic Scallop Oval LG to cut out the image and the mat. I used the Ribbon Banner for the sentiment. The sentiment is actually convex (curving down) but I placed it on the acrylic block reversing the curve so that it would fit nicely into the banner that I wanted to use. My ribbon is May Arts crocheted trimmed velvet ribbon and it is a perfect companion to this warm fall image and the paper from the Memory Box Twiggy pack. A few simple embellishments were adhesive gems and a button and rustic twine. Voila!

Today is a beautiful decorative elegant image that you will just love called Medallion Motif.

This bold image could easily be the focus of your project or make a great background.

First, I apologize for the poor lighting. I had a light bulb burn out and I just couldn’t get a decent shot of this last night in the light box.

I stamped the medallion on Flourishes Classic White card stock, cut it in half, and colored it with Copics. I stamped the dotted circle and sentiment and cut it out with a Spellbinders Standard Circles large die and popped it up in the center. All of the paper is from the new MME Rosy paper pad. I used three buttons from the MME Rosy button collection that matches and strung them on bakers twine before I wrapped it around the cardstock three times. The crochet lace is May Arts Light Celery Crochet trim. The colors are a bit richer irl…sorry you can’t see that, but you can see some gorgeous samples from the rest of the team below!

I stamped my image on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored it with Copics. The panel was sponged with Wheat ink from Versa Magic. The paper and buttons are all MME Blush. The large flower is from Recollections and I used a Spellbinders Nested Pennants die to place the sentiment on. I love how pink and frilly it all is-tres feminine, qui?

September sneaks begin!

It’s another exciting Flourishes release and the sneaks begin today! Check out Feminine Charm!

This set contains several chic feminine accessories and fitting sentiments. Get it? Fitting? I crack myself up! Moving on…

First up: shoes! I have a similar pair of gorgeous red satin high heels that I can’t wait to wear…soon my darlings, soon.

I paired this up…lol, paired, ah ha ha ha! Okay, I’ll stop now, with this sumptuous paper from the Mariposa stack by DCWV. It’s stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. The floral on the front of the shoe was stamped on Bo Bunny dot paper, shaded with a marker and a Star Dust gelly roll pen and cut out and layered onto the original image. The black ribbon is Faux Suede Ruffle and I added a small red rose on the bow. I also had some tiny red gem hearts in my stash that I threw on the sentiment. Cute huh?

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

No really, can you handle this? What was our hostess, Carole, thinking?! Most definitely a challenge for me anyway!

I am not fond of Pacific Point and I just couldn’t seem to find any patterned paper to use with it. I finally pulled out a piece of Crate Paper (that I hoard!) with a soft blue and red floral.

I pulled out my new Spellbinders butterfly dies called Wonderful Wings. I used a piece of patterned paper from the Rosy pad by MME for the butterfly base. The butterfly is layered on top of die cuts from Labels Sixteen and Fleur De Lis. I also used a Nested Pennants die for the sentiment which is from a PTI set. I squeezed in the obligatory Pacific Point with some ribbon (love you anyway Carole!) I made some antennae with black wire and a body for the butterfly with Kaiser adhesive pearls.

Get your fall colors on!

This months Flourishes pre-release challenge is full of beautiful color! Use one, use a few, use them all! It’s up to you!

I pulled these colors from the Pantone palette for my creation: Bamboo, Ember Glow, Phlox, and Cedar.

I used the beautiful Zinnias set and stamped the image on water color paper. I painted it with Stampin’ Up re-inkers in colors to coordinate with my beautiful My Minds Eye 6x6 paper pad called A Beautiful Life. I used Lemon Flower Soft for the zinnia centers but thought it looked too bright so I dabbed Copic marker Y38 on top to tone it down. I used my Spellbinders Lacey Square die for the mat behind my image and hand cut the sentiment flag from water color paper. I used some ribbon, lace, buttons, and twine for embellishments.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Today our hostess is Broni and she picked this interesting color combo to challenge us. And yes, it challenged me! But before I get into that…
I have re-entered the world of the living! Hurricane Irene knocked out our power for 5 days and internet for 6. I had so much catching up to do, but it could have been worse. So, sorry I have been absent for a while. On the bright side-yesterday was the first day of school! Lordy, I have been counting down the days!
First, Joey began the 3rd grade today…

Too cool for school he thinks!
Then my baby…Sean, started kindergarten today. Sigh. This is the only picture he let me take. He made a face, hid, or waved his hands every time I pointed the camera at him. This was taken on the bus on the way home. Finally, he smiled for me. He loved it!

Tomorrow is Sean’s first full day of school and my first time ever as a stay at home mom with both kids in school! Six whole hours alone! I have so much to do I don’t know what to do first! I know, deep breath, there will be so many days like this…but I am so excited!
Okay, now for my card. My peach parfait is more orange, but I love this paper from DCWV Café Mediterranean Stack. I used three patterns from the pad.

I used the PTI Mat Stack 4 Collection and Mat Stack die for the main label and sentiment. The flowers are all from Prima, some with buttons in the center and brads. The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and the body created with Viva Decor Pearls. The decorative border is another Martha Stewart punch.

For my birthday card I used the large flower from the Sunflowers set and the birthday sentiment from Kids Play. I stamped the image twice coloring both and using the center and top petals from the second image and the leaf to pop up over the first bottom image. I also colored a third petal with the ladybug and popped it up even further. All of the paper is from the Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper pad. A little lace and a few buttons finish off. This is one of my favorite images and I really enjoy coloring it!

Friday with Flourishes

Today is a free for all at Flourishes and I have a watermelon card using Wild for Watermelon to share with you! The team had so many beauties to show off last week and I couldn’t wait to ink mine up!

First I stamped the large watermelon image then added the “watermelon” sentiment below it. I love the fun font! The image is colored with Copic markers and the panel edge sponged with Wheat and Gingerbread VersaMagic Dew Drop inks. I love my Dew Drops! I used the 123 Create Kit Trendsetters to put this card together. The patterned paper is from the Websters Pages Ladies and Gents and Trendsetters paper pad. I used some canvas ribbon from the kit which I embellished with a button and some twine. I used the pearl flourish from the kit to dress up the corner including a small pearl butterfly to mimic the butterflies in the paper.
I realized that I forgot to photo the inside of the card-darn! I stamped the watermelon image in pink, then black seeds across the center with the sentiment “You are one in a Melon!” It’s really cute, trust me, lol!
There are still some Trendsetters kits left so get them while you can!

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Good morning! It’s time for another Color Throwdown and I am your hostess this week. I hope you like the colors I picked today….they were inspired by the Gertie paper collection by Stella and Rose which is all the pp you see on my creation.

I am using my new Millie Flower Power from Lili of the Valley.

This cutie is stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copics. I had wanted to use my sewing machine and stitch all the layers but for some reason I can’t get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread. I’ve threaded that machine a hundred times and I can’t figure out what in the world is wrong. I even pulled out the manual…then I gave up. So, I doodled lines around the yellow pp instead. I colored up a couple of naked Prima flowers yellow and added a brown button center to mimic the Black Eyed Susan Millie is holding.

Today, along with my card, I am showcasing the new August 123 Create Kit called Trendsetters. The Trendsetters Kit is full of card making goodness!

Now for my card…

I began with the little girl watering flowers.

She is stamped with Versa Fine Sepia on Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock. The image was cut with a Standard Circles large die from Spellbinders and sponged with Wheat ink from Versa Magic while still in the die. The die cut behind it is Big Scalloped Circle Large. The patterned paper is all from Websters Pages Ladies and Gents Trendsetters. I used a piece of ivory silk ribbon and instead of a bow used the lovely tulle flower from Websters Pages…all of which is in the Trendsetters kit.

Time for a challenge

I hope you are enjoying all the Flourishes sneaks so far! Here’s another challenge to give you another chance at winning the entire August release!

This time I have chosen to use the food vignette. It is water colored with SU reinkers.

I used a Spellbinders oval die from the Classic Oval set to cut out the center of the pp and use the panel as a frame around my image. The sentiment was stamped on watercolor paper and cut out to go into the center of the tag from Fancy Tags Two. With the intricate tag I kept the embellishments simple…just a ribbon and button with rustic twine bow and a few adhesive pearls from Kaiser.

I’m getting hungry

This set makes me want to cook…and eat!

Italian Garden is full of italian cooking inspired items from tomatoes to oil, herbs, and cheese! Yum! I started with these fragrant and frequently used herbs.

I grow and use all of these herbs and I just love these classic images. I stamped each one on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored them with Copics. Then I layered them on one piece on dark green cardstock before matting them on some polka dots. The background paper is from Basic Grey…Stella I think? It was a really old piece of 12x12 that I had only used a little of and it really needed some love! I tied a little rustic twine between the images and added a large gem flourish from ZVA Creations. I hand cut a banner from polkdot paper and layered my sentiment on top. I think this would be a great card to stick a recipe in like I did here and mail it off to a friend who likes to cook!

Yesterday you saw Wild For Watermelon from the Friends of Flourishes team. Yummy! Now see today's new set!

Today I am sharing a sample from Hollyhocks. Such a beautiful old fashioned flower!

My hollyhocks image is stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic markers. I also stamped the “HOLLYHOCKS” at the bottom under the image. The outer edges of the panel is sponged with Wheat ink from Versa Magic. The solid cardstock is from Prism and the floral is a scrap that I think is Crate Paper. I hope I have more of because I just love it! Anyway, the sentiment and mat were but with Spellbinders dies Long Classic Rectangles and Long Classic Scalloped Rectangles. I used two leaf stick pins from Maya Road in the center of the bow and capped each with a tiny bead that I glued on. I didn’t want anyone getting stuck with one of those! The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch, two layers, with some tiny pearls.

I used the coneflower image from this set and colored it with Copic markers. I shaded around the image with Prismacolor pencils and oms then sponged Wheat ink from Versa Magic all around the edges of the panel.

I used the Fleur De Lis die from Spellbinders for my mat and all of the patterned paper is from the Wisteria pad from Basic Grey. I used a Grommet Tags die with the sentiment and sponged that also with Wheat ink while still in the die. Vintage brads (the linked are similar) are on each end and also center the bow. The ribbon is a silky twill I dyed using a Copic refill R04. It’s a gorgeous shade of purple! There is also some lace trim under the bottom edge of the panel which is hard to see in the picture.

I just love coneflowers and they are in full bloom all over my yard. They are blooming right along with the Rudbeckia and purple Salvia and tall phlox. I love how casual and a little wild it all looks! Now only if my tomatoes would turn red! What a disappointment my veggie garden has been this year…oh well, that’s another story!

The Shades of Sunset Challenge

Oh these days of summer! Sadly, they will be gone before we know it - so let's celebrate this time of year now! We are getting ready in the warehouse to release our brand new sets of stamps for August and this release truly celebrates summer's best! We know you love a good challenge to get you in the mood for our week of fun so, let's roll out this month's kick off challenge -- it's one where you could win our entire August release!

HOW TO PLAY: With the warm sunny days, come beautiful sunset skies. Let's celebrate that on our cards and creations! This color challenge is open to interpretation! Sunsets are so unique - some have mostly shades of red and orange, others can light up the sky with purple and pink hues! Pick your favorite sunset colors and share your inspiration. After you create your card, be sure to come back here and link up using our Inlinkz widget. You'll need to share your link here to be in the running! You have until August 12th at 5PM EST to enter! This month we have not three, but FOUR new stamps sets to share!

I used Birds and Vines for my creation. I swiped Ranger alcohol inks across a piece of glossy cardstock to create my sunset. At first I was disappointed that it didn’t blend as I had wanted it to, but then I found that I really liked the painterly look and the harsh brush strokes. It has a very graphic feel to it.

After I created the background I drew a line for the birds to sit on with a Micron pen. Then I stamped each bird with Versa Fine black ink and clear embossed them. The sentiment is from Ferns and Fiddles and is stamped on a piece of Prism textured paper. I added some self adhesive pearls for a simple embellishment. I didn’t feel like there should be any ribbon, bows, or flowers on this. This isn’t my usual style and was really fun to make.

Wednesday’s Color Throwdown

Hi everyone! It’s Color Throwdown #153 and this cool palette comes from Broni.
This is Birthday Fairy from Lili of the Valley. She’s colored with a base of Copic marker with Prismacolor pencil and oms on top. I didn’t have the exact colors for this challenge so you can see that my green is a bit brighter and my blue softer. But as always, you don’t have to use the exact colors, just stay as close as you can :)

The patterned paper is from Marjolaine by Basic Grey. I cut out the main image with Labels Ten from Spellbinders and the flourish is a die from Tim Holtz. The sentiment is also from LOTV. I used lots of glitter using a Quickie Glue Pen and MS glitter, on her outfit, around the image, and on the flourish. Lots of sparkles were definitely in order for this cutie!

Let it Snow!

Some days it’s so hot a nice snow shower would definitely be in order! But today it’s all about the Flourishes Christmas challenge, FLLCNOEL16, and it’s to make a Christmas song inspired card.
I chose the sweet snowman from Warm Winter Wishes. He’s stamped on watercolor paper and painted with SU reinkers.

All of the patterned paper is from the Jovial paper pad by Basic Grey. The snowflake mat was made by cutting out two Fleur de Lis from Spellbinders from glittered cardstock. I think it might be Bazzill. The same glitter paper was used for the Martha Stewart border I punched and added on the left side of the card. I used a Spellbinders Standard Circles large die to cut out the main image. I accented the snowman with Marvy Liquid Applique and sprinkled on some Winter Glitter from Judikins while it was still we. Hopefully you can see that and the glittery paper in the close up below.

I used some velvet trim and a decorative button for accents and stamped the sentiment three times and cut them out by hand and added them randomly down the side.

Flourishes Christmas in July!

Flourishes is having a fun Christmas in July sale and from now until July 31st all Flourishes’ Christmas stamps are on sale for 20% off. No code necessary. Flourishes will automatically discount the stamps for you!

For my Christmas card I used Vintage Postcard and created a shaker card. I used the instructions from the SCS tutorial here. I began by stamping my image twice, first in black ink then a second time with embossing ink and embossed with gold. I cut the center out of the gold embossed image and used the frame to adhere my acetate to. I colored the other image with Copics and used that as the background. I filled the center with Martha Stewart iridescent glitter flakes and some silver microbead mix from Judikins before adhering it with dimensional adhesive tape to the frame.

The background mat was made using the Spellbinders die Fleur De Lis rectangles. I cut it out of a piece a patterned paper with stylized snowflakes on it from MME. The sentiment was stamped on a banner die cut from the Ribbon Banner set which I then ran a gold leaf pen around the edge to tie it into the frame. The card base is cardstock that looks like parchment which I’ve had in my stash for ages.
Below you can see the acetate and see how the front is popped up from the back and the glitter inside.

This is Milly – Just for you from Lili of the Valley stamps. Another one of the latest in their “girlie” line of images. I am having so much fun coloring these sweet images, so be on the lookout for more coming up! She’s stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic markers. The shading around the image is done with Prismacolor pencils and oms and around the oval panel, die cut using Spellbinders classic ovals, is with Wheat ink from Versa Magic. The mat is from the Classic scalloped oval die set.
The paper is from a pack I got from All That Scraps called Milton and Company from Wild Rose Studio.
If you click on the picture for a larger image hopefully you can see the random glitter I added for sparkle around the image.

Wednesdays Color Throwdown

Hi everyone! It’s Color Throwdown #152 and our hostess is Tammy with this lovely color combo! It’s so soothing and soft!
I got my grimy paws on some new Lili of the Valley and I couldn’t wait to ink them up. This sweetie below is called Milly Cuddle Time,

The image is colored with Copic markers and the shading around the image is Prismacolor pencil and oms. I also sponged around the panel with Versa Magic Wheat ink before stitching the edge. I used this pretty Sweet Sunday Sketch #126 and wonderful butterfly paper from MME the Little Miss Muffet line. I have several sheets from this line and finally caved in and cut it up! The background panel is a Bo Bunny dot paper.
The butterflies were punched from the patterned paper with a Martha Stewart punch and accented with Stickles. The border was created with a Dainty Lace Border Die-namics die from MFT. A few Bella Dots in light cocoa from Stamping Bella embellish the bottom.

Flourishes Flowers on Friday

Wouldn’t it be nice to get flowers every Friday? At least I can cut my own from my garden and have them to enjoy inside…because you can’t go outside in this heat, yikes! For those of you suffering the heat wave, take it easy! Good days to stay in the air conditioning and craft!

I’ve used Bee My Honey from Flourishes today and have chosen the floral bouquet. It’s stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic Markers.

All of the patterned paper is from the Lemonade paper pad by Basic Grey. The pink cardstock is Bazzill. After coloring with Copics I added Diamond Glaze and ultra fine glitter to the bee’s wings and shaded around the flowers with a Prismacolor pencil and odorless mineral spirits (OMS). I added faux stitching around the image with a fine point sharpie marker in a mustard/gold color and then sponged over that with a Versa Magic Dew Drop in Wheat.

I used a Martha Stewart border punch for the pink border and added a Prima flower over the pink velvet ribbon. The image is cut out with Classic Circles by Spellbinders and the mat is from the Blossom dies, and the tag made with Tag Dies that I can no longer find on the website…must be discontinued. Too bad, I love these tags!

Ooh, and glitter! I added glitter randomly around the image and also in the flower centers. You should be able to see it in the close up at the top and if you click on the image to enlarge.

Just a Moment…the release continues!

This is it! The last new Flourishes set called Moments In Time. This is a beautiful masculine set with very elegant images.

I stamped my hourglass on water color paper and painted it with SU reinkers. I coated the glass with Crystal Effects and sprinkled Martha Stewart ultra fine crystal glitter on the “sand” . I cut out the image with a Spellbinders die Labels Fourteen and under it used a Lacey Squares die. I ran some tea dyed twill through the bottom mat and added some simple buttons. The patterned paper is from the Timepiece line by Bo Bunny.
Can you see the glitter in the hourglass in the close up below? Well, it’s there, trust me!

Nature is Sweet

Todays Flourishes set is another lovely floral by Marcella Hawley. Sweet Nature contains a small script panel along with these flowers and sentiments.

I stamped the script with Distress Ink in Pumice and then stamped the flowers over it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored them with Copics markers. I used some Bo Bunny dot to mat the image and then some grey cardstock under that and distressed both panels. I used a piece of embossed Bazzill card stock for the background. I lightly dyed the twill with Distress Ink in Walnut that I watered down. I affixed it simply with a button and some twine.

We’re all a buzzzzz here at Flourishes! Today marks a brand new release for us and boy, are you going to love what we’ve got in store! Today all the Flourishes designers have peeks of two new sets — one to make sweet creations and a beautiful background that is a perfect companion! Want a peek?

Bee My Honey offers a sweet look at a honey of a life as a bee. Illustrated by Marcella Hawley, this set features three main images plus little bees which serve as accents along with five fun-filled sentiments.

The coordinating background is a gorgeous Honeycomb which you can see I used part of on one of my panels. The image was stamped on Flourishes Classic White card stock and colored with Copic markers. I then sprayed the panel with Glimmer Mists in Vanilla Breeze to soften the bright colors. I cut the small Spellbinders Fleur de Lis square out of shimmery bronze paper then into four and used one point to peek out from each side of the Labels One die cut mat. The patterned paper is Butterfly Garden by Pink Paislee.
